A friend inherited a .38 special...

And wants to know if she needs to do anything legal-wise about it. She lives in Virginia. (I do too but have only bought guns here, not come into ownership of them by alternate means.)

I know there's no registration here and whatnot, but anyone know if she needs to do anything at all (short of learning how to use it and getting a carry permit if she wants one, etc)?
