Just curious if this thought has passed through your head. I'm not sure what it would take to get it done but I know I could browse glocktalk on my mobile device much easier if it were possible....

View Full Version : Eric, Glocktalk Mobile? fit4christfit4life 12-02-2008, 14:34 Just curious if this thought has passed through your head. I'm not sure what it would take to get it done but I know I could browse glocktalk on my mobile device much easier if it were possible.... Matt Razrbk444 12-02-2008, 14:47 It's been brought up a few times. I think his main focus has been on the forum and it's upgrades. Hopefully when he has the forum where he wants it to be, he'll consider a mobile version. Of course I'm not speaking for Eric, just speculating. fit4christfit4life 12-02-2008, 14:48 good to know. Anyone else use the dare? I get errors when trying to load glocktalk. Lots of information on these pages. Matt buckhunter3987 12-02-2008, 14:51 umm im on here too much already, pretty sure what little productive time society gets from me would dwindle to nothing if this came about...:faint: LoadToadBoss 12-03-2008, 13:31 I often use my MotoQ smartphone when out and about to get my GT fix. The site is managable for forum viewing, but some graphic take time to load. All in all, the mobile experience for me isn't too bad right now, but a GT.mobi would be sweet. Longtooths 12-03-2008, 13:33 Works fine on my G3 iPhone, I browse often using it. mcs 12-03-2008, 13:40 Yes mobile would be great, I and my blackberry would be very greatful! Natrate 12-03-2008, 13:47 good to know. Anyone else use the dare? I get errors when trying to load glocktalk. Lots of information on these pages. Matt I use a Dare. Sometimes it works decent, but I get a lot of memory/script errors (too many ads/pics). It's a pain!! I'm glad you brought this up because I was wondering if there was a lo-fi version of Glocktalk. mnorton 12-03-2008, 13:52 Where has Eric been lately? I don't recall seeing him post in a while. Cochese 12-03-2008, 13:54 GT works fine on my 3G BB 9530 andybob 12-03-2008, 14:43 Yes mobile would be great, I and my blackberry would be very greatful! Download Opera Mini 4.2 Beta. Its blows the BB browser out of the water. Once downloaded, on the home screen for the browser, hit the menu button on your BB, and there should be somewhere for you to check 'Mobile View'. Select that, Hit the menu button and save. That's what I do. I have a Curve 8310 with AT&T. Mrs. VR 12-03-2008, 15:28 Eric is on the road this week, I'm going to move this to the upgrade forum so he'll see it when he gets back. Notrega 12-05-2008, 20:49 http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=928453&highlight=eric&page=3 Check message #88 Eric, Let me kiss up first - this is a GREAT site and I visit every day. I really appreciate all the hard work that goes into making this site what it is... :wavey: How about a mobile version of the site for paid members? I visit http://forums.crackberry.com/ everyday as well - they have 2 forum skins/styles that is optimized for viewing with a mobile device... WAP & WAP3 (Look on the bottom left of the screen) They even have their own mobile address - www.wap.crackberry.com As a paid member, granted it is only silver, I would LOVE to hit GT from my Blackberry without all the graphics etc... PLEASE PLEASE consider this - Take a poll to gauge interest... I am sure that you would get more paid members with this option... Again thanks for a GREAT site... That one is on the to-do list. The short list. I hope to have it ready in time to slip under everyone's tree. Eric Notrega 01-16-2009, 17:50 Anyone hear anything new about this? geardownson 01-17-2009, 11:31 Id like to see this happen. I use a Moto Q and the pages are not that bad to load but a little slow. Just a bit of advice on cell phone use. In your phone there should be a view option "show pictures" just turn it off. It makes the pages load a bit faster. Olivers_AR 01-17-2009, 21:43 +1 for a MotoQ mobi. I often use my MotoQ smartphone when out and about to get my GT fix. The site is managable for forum viewing, but some graphic take time to load. All in all, the mobile experience for me isn't too bad right now, but a GT.mobi would be sweet. pizza 01-19-2009, 16:37 I've been on other forums that use the same forum software as GT but have a selectable mobile view and it is much faster not having to wait for graphics and ads to load. thegriz18 01-19-2009, 16:38 I often use my MotoQ smartphone when out and about to get my GT fix. Could use a little bit of cleaning up.I like the fact that I can search and post on a moments notice. This way I don't miss the good deals...;) I would say though, when looking at GT from the mobile, things are definitely SPREAD WAY out and a little harder to find. Just my .02 cents. GT mobile would rock!!! AngryBassets 10-12-2009, 21:24 Bumpity-bump.... :wavey: Cochese 10-12-2009, 21:38 Every vB forum I go to has a mobile version except GT which, ironically, is where I spend the most time. Easier to browse! mdehoogh 10-21-2009, 15:31 Mobile themes are relatively easy to add but they don't show any ad's. Servers can be expensive and forums as big as this can be very costly. I'm sure Eric needs every click-through he can get and if there's a mobile version, then there are NO ad's to click through. It would be nice though... :) Hackett 10-21-2009, 15:35 no probs on my iPhone, granted I am in wifi filled areas most the time. uzimon 10-22-2009, 07:45 Works decent on my curve 8320 I can send/recieve pms too Arr6 10-22-2009, 14:57 Mobile themes are relatively easy to add but they don't show any ad's. Cochese 12-04-2009, 06:03 PM sent to Eric with a link to this thread. I would love a mobile skin. GT is the only forum that gets quirky on my new Droid. Sometimes its flawless, sometimes it hangs loading pages. Nicky D 12-06-2009, 22:53 I just picked up a Droid, would love to have anything that makes it easier to surf GT. itstime 12-06-2009, 23:18 This is the only place I really don't go to on the road on my Blackberry. It loads but is far too hard to find what I want on it. A mobile version is a great idea. Zatec 12-11-2009, 19:52 +100000 for the iPhone 3Gs. It works just fine including the pictures. Just buy an iPhone Is that your answer for everything? I don't want a Bi-Phone. I want my more powerful, open source, battery swappable, 5.0 MP, 6.4 hour talk time, 32 GB, multi-tasking, larger (3.7 inch), higher resolution screen (240dpi droid/163dpi apple) not an i-Fad mp3 player with a phone crammed in. But thanks for your continued insight across Glock Talk with respect to your exulted handset! You are a consumate MacHEAD. You should form your own planet where everyone has a super original apple sticker on the back of their Prius/Insight/Subaru Justy... http://twitter.com/MacHEADS The only way I will ever hit a ****ing power button on a Mac... http://firstin.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/apple-tattoo-girl.jpg?w=300&h=235 Taz 01-06-2010, 19:29 LOL!! Don't hold anything back there Cochese. Another iPhone user that has had no issues even with a gen 1 unit. None the less a mobile version would be a nice option for being able to get a quick fix in. Florida stalks all the phone threads blowing the i-Phone and denouncing everything else as vaporware. It gets old. GT works fine with my Droid. Like you though, I believe a mobile option would be perfect for quick responses in threads and the like. ;) FloridaCCW 01-06-2010, 20:24 :wavey: This was posted with my iPhone.... No AP needed :whistling: Cochese 01-06-2010, 20:53 Good for you junior. This is posted from a Droid and umpteen other handsets used on GT everyday. I'm sorry we can't break the explanation down to your level. Notrega 01-06-2010, 21:53 Cochese - is what we are asking for so difficult to understand? Really?? Short Bus 01-12-2010, 14:47 I would love a mobile version as well. How about it? Davegrave 01-12-2010, 19:14 Another vote for a mobile version. I just got a new BB Curve. Love it, and GT is do-able, but takes some time, and sometimes I have log-in trouble. Would LOVE LOVE LOVE a mobile version. Range_Rat 02-08-2010, 20:38 One more vote for a good app! AggiePhil 02-08-2010, 22:22 It's been brought up a few times. I think his main focus has been on the forum and it's upgrades. Hopefully when he has the forum where he wants it to be, he'll consider a mobile version. Of course I'm not speaking for Eric, just speculating. Dude, Eric is always making upgrades to GlockTalk and I don't think it will ever be "where he wants it to be". He isn't the complacent type. With that having been said, I think a GlockTalk iPhone app would be a great way to bring in some extra money. IDK how much something like that costs to develop (probably quite a bit, unfortunately), but I'd definitely pay $1-$3 to have a GlockTalk application on my phone, regardless of exactly what it did. Yeah, I'm a geek like that. AggiePhil 02-08-2010, 22:22 As I posted in the other thread, I think a GlockTalk iPhone app would be a great way to bring in some extra money. Nokia and Blackberry will be supported soon. hyJOEstatic SHOCK 02-11-2010, 03:02 Tapatalk site says Nokia & BB will be supported by sometime this month. This is sweet & all, but I bet a .mobi GT would still be better. I hope BGH will consider it. I would certainly prefer to chuck $3.00 @ Eric than Tapatalk. Heck, I might even chuck a couple more duckets his way... <-- BIG SPENDER! volsbear 02-13-2010, 15:51 I can't even log into Glocktalk on my BB Storm2. No idea why. Couldn't get any love in the support forum either. Notrega 02-13-2010, 19:26 Just saw this and will be downloading it and making a full report tomorrow... http://crackberry.com/introducing-berryblab-v1-must-have-app-blackberry-users-who-frequent-web-forums-powered-vbulletin I've been anxiously waiting for a few weeks now to get BerryBlab officially announced here on the blogs (I'm in a mad-rush right now packing to fly out to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress, so we tag-teamed this one and Adam did up the video above). Until today BerryBlab was still in beta, but it has now gone version 1.0 and is ready for the spotlight. So what is BerryBlab? BerryBlab is a new BlackBerry app that is a real must-have for those BlackBerry users out there who frequent web forums that are powered by vBulletin, such as our own CrackBerry forums. Rather than browsing the forums via the BlackBerry web browser on your device, you can now surf them via the BlackBery app which provides a smooth user experience. It works on both touchscreen and non-touchscreen BlackBerry Smartphones, and provides all of the basic functionality you'd expect in a mobile forum viewing experience: you can view forums and subforums, post and reply to threads, view images, get PMs, etc. The app allows you to access multiple forums as well, so you can jump back and forth between all your favorite forums. One key point to make note of here is that the forum administrator MUST install the BerryBlab plugin into their forums in order for the app to work with that site. In the case of CrackBerry, we've had it up and running for weeks now as beta-testing progressed on the application. If you buy the app and the vBulletin forum you want to visit does not have the plugin installed, be sure to point them to BerryBlab's site so they can grab it for free. BerryBlab sells for $2.99 and you can grab it at the link below. Keep in mind that though it's now out of beta, as it is a new app it's possible you could experience some glitches. The BerryBlab dev team has been very responsive, so if you find any bugs or have any ideas on how to further improve the app be sure to drop it in the comments and they'll get it tackled. http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=46533&n=BerryBlab Let's hit Eric up for this... After only a quick scan of the site, it appears they have two different apps, & I figure you go by your OS # to determine which you are to download. I have determined that I need to update my OS on my 8300 before I can get in the game. Anybody else try this yet? If so, able to pull up GT? vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
