Forgive the newb question but what is an inspection plate? Is it the huge mouspad with all the glock stuff on it?

More questions, will normal eye glasses glasses count?

No problem at all, glad to help.

The inspection plate installs in place of the slide cover plate and allows you to see the engagement between the trigger bar and firing pin lug. It is orange in color and about half as tall as the standard cover plate.

Regular eyeglasses will be fine.

Randy

Edited to add:
Here's a picture of the inspection plate along with a standard cover plate.
