Are you buying it out of the back of a van?

Power supply seems a bit on the low side for those specs.. but it should be OK. If anything, the rig is cheap enough you can buy a good one and install. I'd also question where you're getting this, as that price seems almost to good. Make sure all software is legit, etc.

I would think that isn't a bad price at all. If anything a touch low. :wavey:

The one I was talking about was on craigslist. I found this one at walmart that looks good for $398 what do you think?
Compaq Presario SR5633WM-B Desktop PC w/ Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor E2200
Compaq wf1907 19" widescreen LCD monitor with built-in stereo speakers
2.2 GHz Intel Pentium Dual-Core Desktop Processor E2220
2 GB of DDR2 system memory
320 GB hard drive, 7200 rpm
SuperMulti DVD+/-RW drive with double-layer and LightScribe support
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition with Service Pack 1
Here is a link to the mother board specks. That is my biggest concer because i want to upgrade it in the future.

Home Premium, 2gigs of Ram?...

It has a PCI x16 slot, so when you're ready to get off the onboard graphics, you can. I personally hate Compaq (long story, but suffice to say a problem I had w/ a 400mhz Compaq is what inspired me to learn to build)...

Other than the 2gigs of Ram, I don't see a huge problem. I'd like to see it at 4gigs, but thats just me. You could easily upgrade after buying, as at $398, thats a pretty smokin deal.

I think I'd jump on it, rather than the craigslist computer.

Thanks for the info. There is a emachines with the same specs. Should I get that instead? I was thinking the same thing about the the graphics card and ram. Just upgrade it later.

Emachines is a step below Compaq in my opinion... I'd get the Compaq...

YMMV.

+1

Emachines are throw-away PC's. They are good for a couple of years then toss 'em. I have a couple of Compaq's that are still running after many years. :wavey:
