The passion has resurfaced. In case you all wanted to know where my screen name came from, well I'm a former wedding/freelance photographer. I got out of the business several years ago after getting burned out doing weddings. This time I'm doing it for the love, I may pick up odd jobs here and there but nothing too heavy.

Anyway, I'm a die-hard Nikon guy...obviously, and need to get back in the loop. I used to be a purist who hated digital, but now I'm OK with it. Now to find the perfect Digital body. Ill worry about finding some quality glass later.

Chime in If you shoot Nikon DSLR's.

I guess you EOS types can check in too. :tongueout:

Now to find the perfect Digital body.

Simple. D3. Hands down.

However, the D700 is close to it, and costs $2000 less.

Of course, those are both FX sensor bodies.

I prefer DX sensors, since I shoot mostly outdoor sports. So I shoot a D300.

I might pick up a D700 next fall for indoor sports. It's high ISO/low noise performance is close to the D3.

depends - like nipper said, D3 or D700 if you're after full frame, and the D300 for DX. If you do go full frame, save your money for the Nikkor f2.8 24-70 zoom, which is an incredible lens. Can also be used on a DX body.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

id definatly go with the d700 for the fx sensor.
