Thanks for stopping by. I should start with today's executive orders, but I think welcomes are in order, no?

Thank you for the invite. This is an excellent idea, it will be very interesting to see what crosses Obama's desk over the next few years.

I to am looking forward to tracking legislative action(s) or lack thereof. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this endeavor.

Is there a particular format desired for posting of this information? Links?, Complete copy? etc. Perhaps a different thread for each bill and entitled the same?

Thanks BTW, my name is Fred

Hello Fred,

I am, of course, open to all suggestions. Links with leading paragraphs that convey the essence of the bills would be a good idea. I am going to sticky a thread on links such as http://www.opencongress.org/ so that we all know where to find out what our government is doing.

Yes, I also agree on having a separate thread for each bill or executive action by the president.

Will we be tracking ONLY legislation that he directly pushes, or will we will observing anything we find important?

I fear if we widen the scope, the traffic will be hard to manage. If the situation calls for it, and the resources are here, we can adjust accordingly, but for now, I would like to narrow the focus on legislation landing on his desk, and executive action he takes.

Hello Russ, 4949shooter.

Please forgive me for not giving you a little back history. The original thread is here >> http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=985271 in GNG.

4949shooter, there is no agenda. Well, maybe a little. I don't trust President Obama, but I also don't trust the press who would work in conjunction with a popular president to mask matters of importance to all of us.

In addition, it is sort of my own personal opportunity to become more connected to the ways in which our government works at the highest levels. I hope there is something educational from this exercise over time for you (all) as well.

This is not a flash-in-the-pan idea of mine. I am disgustingly plodding, deliberate. methodological and far sighted. There may be spells of time where there is no activity here, and other times when we can't all keep up. I am in it for the long haul.

Now, despite my persona on the forums, or despite what your individual impressions of me might be on the forums, I really am a very serious, focused person. This is not a trifling endeavor with any sort of goal to make our currently elected president look good, I am genuinely concerned for the direction our country will be taking over these next few years.

With that, I also don't intent to castigate or denigrate the POTUS. As I said in the original post (now linked in this thread ) in GNG, I welcome critical, but dispassionate analysis and scrutiny of what transpires in the oval office.

Also, when this idea 1st surfaced, in the form of a "panel of judges" some of you may recall that I handled that thread in a completely impartial, somewhat detached manner. There are people whom I do not always agree with, that I am able to set those prior disagreements aside and deal with the (any) issue at hand. If you have suggestions for folks you think are capable of leaving CI, GNG, Reloading, CT, etc behind and simply talk intelligently about the issue, I will extend an invitation to them. I am not a trifling person.

It is also my intent (with Eric's permission) to create yet another sub forum, something of a area where we can create threads and things that might clutter this area up. I a. I will start a group, and ask that five of you PM me so I can get that sub forum going. The contents of that forum will be public, but it will essentially be a placeholder for things as :How bills become law; The makeup of the cabinet; voting history of the speaker, certain congressional leaders, etc etc.

One last thing: I can swear like the best of them. In this forum, I would please ask that you constrain the use of gross obscenities, for the simple reason that one day this sub-forum on Glocktalk might attract the attention of the media, the government, other like minded folks, or folks who do not possess the clarity of vision we do. Let us not cloud the message, nor give them ammunition to belittle our simple and straightforward objective(s).

As always, I am open to suggestion as to how to make this work in our benefit, where information is easy to retrieve, easy to assimilate, and of course, easy to present.

Thanks all, for participating.

New secondary group is up, invite sent to a few members....need five members to be a forum.

Again, that forum will be public, and will be a place where lots of related stuff is posted and organized, to keep this forum clean. I will place links in threads here, to stuff there when/where needed.

Thanks for the invite. If I understand you correctly, you want the secondary forum to be like an FYI, not so much discussion?

Correct. It will be a place to hold, store and organize data presented in this forum, so that we don't get overrun with a myriad of threads here.

My assumption is, the cleaner this forum is, the easier it will be for all (me especially, I have a few learning disabilities!) to keep track/ follow/use.

Thanks for the update, Drew. I wasn't aware of the former thread. As I am not in particular agreement with the philosophies of our newest president, I just the same would not like to paticipate in a POTUS bashing board.

I believe I have made my intentions and directions clear as to the goals of his forum.

There was a mistake for not sending you a link to that thread with the invitation so you could see (some of) the back history of where this started.

I just wanted the intent here clarified.

I appreciate the explanation as well as the invitation.

And I pretty much understand you will handpick the proper people for the discussions at hand. :wavey:
