I grew up in Smyrna, went to Tech downtown, then moved away for 17 years before I moved back in 2001. Lately I have given some thought to how much things have changed, and what I miss.

To start with, no where I worked in high school or college is still around. The Hungry Fisherman restaurant, Jean Claude's restaurant behind Cumberland Mall, Garcia's restaurant at the Galleria, and Alan's Camera. All gone.

The best one of all - the church where I got married is now a Mexican Restaurant. La Paz in Vinings used to be Vinings First Baptist Church, back when Vinings was 2 buildings and a train station. Then they sold their 2-1/2 acres for $2 million in 1990, and bought Cumberland Baptist Church on South Cobb Drive.

Snack n Shop deli on Northside Drive at West Paces Ferry.

All the small theatres in Smyrna, like the Miracle.

Jonquil pool.

Aunt Fanny's Cabin. Yes, it is now a museum, but you can't eat there.

Gosh, I gotta quit. I'm feeling old.
