I try to go at least once a year but thinking of skipping it this year just because of all the panic buying. I like to renew with the NRA there and get in free. So what do you think? why or why not? http://www.thenationsgunshow.com/

I may go to see if there are any ammo deals. Looking for .308 and 5.56 battle packs or some of Hornday's new defense ammo.

I was chatting with a J&T Distributing Rep and he was not sure if they would make the show due to inventory shortages. Can't sell what they don't have.

Yes, but mostly just to pick up some original 1863 Springfield parts.

And maybe a glock shot glass.

If you're looking for ammo probably best to go Friday or early Saturday. I purchased one of the last cases of 9mm late Saturday morning at the show in November. I'm guessing that it will be the same this time too now that "0-the chosen" has been sworn in.

i'm going this weekend with a few buddies.

i'm looking for some mags for my glock 22, and some ammo. My buddy is looking for a Glock 21, full size model. And ammo...

My other buddy is just going to browse..although he hopes to make it out without a new long gun. LOL

edit: also, we plan on going early on saturday!

I will probably go Friday afternoon/evening for a while. I need to replace a holster [paddle] I bought in November, plus generally window shop.

question. Do the dealers take credit cards? How do they do background checks? Phone? Or laptop with internet access?

back to the credit card question, is it one of those old school sliding machines where they basically have a carbon copy of your credit card? or is it like an actual credit card machine hooked up to a phone line?

Thanks!

I have use a CC before. If they take and which cards of course is up to the dealer.

Yes most major gun and ammo dealers take credit cards. Jerry's, Dark Sun, Guns & Ammo Warehouse, J&T Distributors, etc.

Most dealers are running credit cards through electronic systems, some still use paper. Some dealers add a 3% charge for using a credit card.

All dealers are running real time criminal checks through the Virginia State Police and FBI's gun show systems using wireless laptops authorized to access their gun check systems a few call in, but can take forever. There are Class III firearms and accessories that can be purchased, but you will not be able to take them with you until your ATF paperwork is completed (takes about 2 to 3 months).

As you can tell, at least the Chantilly show is pretty much a modern "real-time" environment using the latest technologies.

There is also an ATM near the front door.... but it runs out of cash by mid Saturday if not sooner.

looking to pick up a g26 at the show and meet up with Gary's Guns since i spoke with him about getting one. I'm sure all the prices on ammo, mags, and firearms are even higher than the last time they came to town in Nov.

Wouldn't mind picking up a krinkov but will see how much they go for now.

The best deals on a full size G21 might be at Dark Sun or Jerry's Gun Trader. Gun & Ammo Warehouse is usually about $50 to $75 above them.

I thought last November's show was a mad house, but today was even more. I have never seen so many people trying to get in. It was worth the $25.00 to renew my NRA membership to avoid the long lines. Since you get in for free when you do the NRA renewal it was the best way to get in.

I picked up a couple of .308 battle packs for $100 and a new 5.5" S&W 22A (steel model) for $250.00. The prices for 1911 and Glocks are out of sight. At these prices, it now seems to make more sense to buy from Bud's or something like GunBroker and transfer them in. Less pushing, you can drink a beer chating with your broker and take your time.

I can't even guess what Saturday is going to be like.

I had the day off and went to the show also on Friday. I got there early (2:50) or so i thought and there were two lines both going from the front and rapping around ether side of the building I was glad I needed to renew my NRA membership I saved $10 on a membership got in the show free and 45min faster than some people I meet in the parking lot. I saw ammo going out by the hand truck load. I saw Glocks going from $489 to $600+ only a few 19's and 23's. I bought a Stack-on safe for my work vehicle and a Glock coffee mug, its a slow time of year for me so I was not looking to spend much.

I did the same, spent 10 min looking for parking and renewed by NRA to skip the lines. the 2 NY guys in the center middle were selling ammo left/right from 308, 223, 762 to 9mm that i saw.. They are raking in $$$ big time.. Saw one vendor at the very back that had 4 G26's that i was looking for for $479, but was out by the time i got there at 4:20. If they had it, i would have gotten it, but didn't really need one. But still had the G17, G19 and a few others for the same price.. compared to everyone selling for $500-$600

AKs going for $700
ARs going for $1200
Glocks $500-$600

Wolf ammo 1,000 rds $189
Par Pritzi 5.56 1,000 rds $289
9mm federal plinker 1,000 rds $225

It was a madhouse like everyone says. I went with my LEO buddies so we got in right away without waiting. Did not see too many deals that were "must haves." One dealer had some Pmags at reasonable cost of $17. Picked up some 20 rounders and a few other accessories and called it a day. Was looking for a used 239 in 9mm but did not see any at a decent price. Saw a dealer with a Sig 228 TT for $429 but it was missing its decocker lever and who knows what else.

Good luck everyone.

just got back. We got there sat. morning at 830am, waited till 9, but were the first ones in. My buddy picked up his Glock 21 SF for $550, and had them put on night sights right there for $50, so he spent $600. Not bad i guess, i saw one at loudoun guns last week for $690, same set up. We had a real hard time finding the UpLULA speed loader. After like an hour of searching found a guy, so we bought 3 of them, $30 bucks each. Also found some G22 and G21 mags, I think i paid $26.95 for the G22s, and my buddy paid $29.99 for the G21s.

My other buddy picked up 500 rds of PMC 9mm and 500 rds of federal something 9mm. For like $285.00 total. Also, my buddy picked up a range bag as well.

If you are looking for ammo. though, check out the Wal-mart in Fair Lakes, they have a lot of ammo, and i mean a lot! 9mm, .40, 45, .22lr, .223...LOTS.. We also each bought like 6 boxes of ammo at wal-mart as well.

It was a good day. Thanks for everyones help.

I was there in the afternoon yesterday and thought it was less busy than the show late last year. I may have been behind the rush though. As the parking lot was a little crazy.

A few vendors said they were cleaned out of low cost range ammo. At about 2pm Jerry's still had about 7 g19's but said they had started with 55 of them on Friday. He said they would likely be sold out very quickly. They were going for about $540.

I went back and got night sights on my 19 and 26 and picked up a TLR-1 that I have put on my AR. Lines today was not as long as on Friday but was still very busy.
The Glock Armorer started out with 50 some night sights I was first to his table today and he had 7 left.

I went there on Saturday afternoon. Total zoo. took about 15 mins just to find a parking place. Long line getting in.

Son wanted some 7.62x39 ammo, could buy it cheaper on line even with shipping.

I picked up a few small parts for an AR15 build I'm working on. Son found a guy with some 5 round AK mags, he wanted a couple for hunting.
