My daughter the right winger

When my daughter started school in Tulsa I had my first confrontation with the establishment. The first day she brought home a list of needed supplies that should have balanced the national budget. Everything you could possibly ever need for school work, up to and including paper for her graduation diploma, I don't know which one.

The item that caused the first confrontation was a box of crayons. I sent one of the 72 count boxes so she would have crayons for her entire school career. You can imagine my surprise when I got a note from her teacher not more that two weeks later asking for more crayons. I sent the teacher a note, and told her to let me know what my daughter was doing to go through that many crayons that fast and I would see that she changed her ways.

I got a note from her teacher, "Your daughter is very good with her supplies but we put everything into a community pool and not all the kids are good with supplies. We ask the students that are willing to re-stock the community pot."

And the fight was on.

I accused the teacher of practicing basic communism, which has never worked for anyone because the ambitions are not the same. Seventy five per cent of the people want to live on the work of the other twenty five per cent. She accused me of trying to make my daughter anti-social and I said, I was trying to make her anti-socialism.

End result was she got her own locker and was responsible for her own supplies.

Later that year I got a note from the teacher accusing my daughter of hitting some kid back and I asked her what her point was, the other kid hit first. She said violence should not be met with violence. I told they were first graders, how violent can they be? I don't what part of Utopia that teacher was from, but she was not ready for this world.
