Open Carry is available and legal and even mandatory in various States.
I want to give those of us who can and do carry openly a place to talk about experiences, problems, and exchange ideas and tips/hints on the art of Open Carry.
If you do not like open carry or only want to post to start an argument, please don't.

I'm headed out today to meet a former co-worker for lunch. I ordered a couple more Sidearmor IWBs and they shipped to my old business address (well, they've only shipped 15 to that address over the last 5-years
), and he is bringing them to me.
Poor guy, he use to shoot, but married an anti... She thinks I'm a bad, bad influence on him.
Having lunch at a restaurant that serves alcohol, so, I'm carrying the G23 in a Sidearmor IWB. Extra mag and Surefire 6P in Serpa mag and light carriers on the weak side.
My CHP badge is....NO, I do not have a CHP badge...

It's going to be 74 here today, so I'll take a light windbreaker jacket if I need to cover.

Okay, other than a snafu with the lunch location, therefore no lunch, it was a positive OC day.
I noticed my left front headlamp was out, so I went to an automotive store to get one. There was a County Police cruiser parked out front. I went in...couldn't find the bulb I needed so went to the counter, stood to the right of the officer, he looked over, down, saw the spare mag and light, looked up, nodded, asked how I was doing. We talked about him wearing long sleeves in mid-70 degree weather. He left. No problem... ![]() |

Now THAT is how it's supposed to happen. I remember a LONG time ago in KALI it was legal to OC if you didn't ahve a permit. Unfortunately that law went by the wayside many years ago. |

My experience OCing today: Had the SO drop me off at the front door at the local mall, she didn't want to go in, imagine that. I OC'ed throughout the whole mall and was there about 30 minutes in various stores, not one single look, remark or issue till I got back outside.
Was getting in the car and the wife said do you know your gun is hanging out? Told her yes and that SHE was the only one that did notice and to quit worring about it. She hates guns but knows I need to always have one around to save her. Should I tell her to get her own and to save herself??? |

With the warm weather we've had in February and now March, there's been more opportunity to "not wear a jacket".
New place I OC'ed, a newly opened neighborhood grocery store... I think the owner carries, too. He always has a jacket on...that concealed thing, you know. No problems or strange looks. No unwanted attention. RussP |

I do not choose to carry openly based upon the fact that the Police in my town are complete assholes when it comes to actually KNOWING the TCA statute pertaining to citizens holding a Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit. They will stop you, harass you, and take your gun from you, making sure its not stolen, etc... This really bothers me and I just choose to carry concealed.
