The postings above will show you that there are only a few .22 pistols to stay away from. On the positive side, Ruger will give you the most versatility and dependability. There are plenty of parts and upgrades for Mark I, II, and III, and the 22/45. Pawn shops are a good place to find bargains (and overpriced guns-be sure to haggle). Feel the difference in the grip angle between the Marks and the 22/45- you have a choice. Want a particular barrel length? several to choose from in all those models.Want aftermarket grips, springs, etc? lots to choose from out there. My fun-gun is a MKII, 6 7/8 barrel, Hogue grip. For yourself, pick & choose until you are happy!
