I feel inclined to give an update for those who read my earlier post (Unhappy Surprises). Not just for you, actually, but for me too, because the story continues to haunt my thoughts.

After 2 months in two different NICUs and dozens of special tests, the family is HOME. They are exhausted, but they are home. I went for a walk yesterday afternoon, but what I thought would be a quiet and serene amble ended up turning into a power walk for the house when the light snow morphed into ice pellets. Running on icy ground is generally a bad idea, but walking through flying ice can be equally treacherous, I've decided. After slip sliding my way to the door, I shook myself off like a horse and re-entered my warm house with declarations of Not Doing That Again.

I had a Christmas post in mind, but then I read GioaJack's entry on Santa Claus (highly recommendable--go read it if you haven't already) and lost some momentum. My brain has difficulty writing tongue in cheek following something with honest substance in it. And oh was my post theoretically fraught with cheekiness! Oh well. Maybe next time.
