The figure thrown about is something like 1.7 million criminals have been stopped but the overwhelming vast majority of those in that figure are not prohibited people. (And you know that because almost nobody ever serves time for it) It's analogous to the when senator Ted Kennedy was stopped five times because he was on the no fly list and claiming that stopped five terrorists and/or attacks...

The fallacy with so called "universal" (or otherwise) back ground checks is...

The core reason gun control always fails to reduce violent crime/murder is because it effectively only negatively impacts the ability to defend and has practically no effect on the ability to attack.

Why is that?

Well, action movies and sensationalized news media not withstanding, it is an empirical fact that firearms are only one of an INFINITE number of tools with which criminals may commit attacks murder/violent crime. I don't mean that only in the abstract but...

This is a great read. I found it fascinating both as somebody who has a big interest in Glock and other firearms generally in addition to how the business achieved it's status in the America. I found the story that unfolded as I learned about some of the history and players behind the success of Glock to be surprisingly exciting and even riveting at times. The more I read the book the the more I wanted to keep reading it. I was actually disappointed that it had to end.
