First 1911: Pics and Range Report "Metro Arms American Classic Deluxe"
MetroArms budget .45 - "American Classic II Deluxe"
This is what I found when I opened the box. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...sic45003-1.jpg (note date of test fire: 7/25/09..this must be a fresh one) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...sic45006-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...sic45007-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...sic45009-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...c45011-1-1.jpg My local FFL knows more about 1911's than I do, and he was impressed with the action, trigger, fit and finish. Grips will be changed. There's just something about owning my first 1911. Feels like a real semiauto pistol. It's not a Wilson, Baer, or Gold Cup, but if it fits my needs I'll work my way up to a premium 1911. more to follow... |
Back from the range.
First report Trigger is around 6lbs, gunsmith will tune that down just a bit Sights are shooting about 2" right at 10-15yds, gunsmith will tune that too. Gun shot perfectly, ate cheap Monarch hardball Grip swap will help a little, but nothing critical. Best gun for the money I've ever bought. First eight rounds out of the gun, standing, 30 feet, about 2" right http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rgets001-1.jpg Second two mag's, 16 rounds, 30 feet, learning to compensate for the sight http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rgets003-1.jpg After 50 rounds down the pipe, here's 8 rounds at 30 feet, standing http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rgets004-1.jpg Dropped it off with my gunsmith who'll correct the sights, tune the trigger a bit, and give it a general once-over internally. I see a Colt in my future. |
Congrats!
I've got the Firestorm DLX, which is the same 1911. Its been great. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...000_2045-1.jpg |

Before you send the gun out to have the sights adjusted, you might want to have someone else shoot it just to make sure it's not operator error. Just sayin. Looks good though. Maybe I will pick up one of these or the Firestorm for another project gun. My Fusion build fell through :sadangel:

Congrats! Those are nice.

Jetguns has these for 434 shipped. Seems to be an excellent gun for the money - For those who have both the Metro Arms and the RIA tactical, what would be your preference between the two?
Also, what does the maker/import stamp read on the right side of the pistol at the top of the grip? Just curious. |

Imported by RSA Inc Ocean NJ I bought the exact same gun this morning, Test fired by the factory 6/16/2010 After a quick cleaning I went from the gunshop to my range. I fired two magazines fairly rapidly to check functiob ing and was rewarded with 8 shots in an inch and a half at 8 yards, Shoots to point of aim, don't need to touch the sights. Then I had three students each shoot 16 rounds (none had shot handguns prior to today) all 16 rounds each were within 4 to 5 inch groups. The trigger breaks at just over 5 pounds very little creep or over travel. My other 1911 is a $1700.00 custom job, this one I paid $429.95 for. |
PS Mine came in a nice hard plastic case, no cardboard! But only one magazine, bought 4 more Kimber 8 round mags for $19.95 each.
