Sig SP2022

I need some input on the SP2022, please tell me your expirence with this model, likes? dislike? all info is helpful thank you.

I have one in .40 S&W and it is a great gun. Zero problems in about 1000 rounds. It has the best trigger of any Sig out of the box. My only complaint is the first shot in DA, the trigger pull is super long, but smooth. I think you will enjoy the gun. I wouldn't pay more than $500 new, though...

Sig Pro

I have a SP2009 9mm. Very good pistol and very accurate. Totally reliable.

I don't have a 2022 but I do have other Sigs. I go on the Sig forum frequently, and have yet to read a bad report about the 2022. Some claim its got one of the best triggers Sig ever produced!

I was going to purchase one, but in my hand it felt rather large and heavyish for a polymer gun. I don't think it would have made me happy as a carry gun and would probably be remanded to "safe" duty, and I don't need a safe queen.

Excellent pistol. Ultra reliable, terrific DA trigger, very accurate. I would keep mine except the smallest grip (medium actually) is too big for my hand.

I don't understand this. The sp229 has a 1.5 in grip, but people are saying that the SP2022, which has a 1.4 in grip; they're saying that the smaller grip is more bulky. Huh?

There's another measurement that you may want to consider: circumference

circa81 10-12-2009 12:48

Then can anyone please point me in the right direction for the circumference?

Circumferential measurements of my Sigs with stock Sig factory grips:

SigPro SP2022: 5-3/4"

Sig P226ST: 5-1/2"

Sig P229ST: 5-1/2"

Ergonomics go beyond mere dimensions. You have inifinite variables of width length and radii involved. I'd suggest you pick up the pistol and determine if it's right for you.

Quickly becoming one of my favorites; 2022 in 9mm.
Has been assigned to HD duty and will soon wear CT grips.
Very nice trigger, great ergos, night sights, under $500... what's not to like? :)

drider 10-14-2009 19:44

I considered buying this gun new for $549, it was at the time either this sig or a G26. I went with the G26, i wasn't a huge fan of the first shot D.A. then second shots S.A. But nevertheless, it looks like a great gun, i think on Sigs website they say the 2022 is standard issue for tank commanders.

skeeter1959 10-20-2009 22:32

I have one and really like it. Super accurate and fits my hand well. I love the night sights too.

SIGSAREBETTER 10-20-2009 23:52

I bought my 2009 in 04 new. Close to 20k through it...great weapon. Always go out of my way to speak highly of sig's "well-kept secret"

SDGlock23 11-01-2009 00:23

Buds has the .40 version right now for $439 w/night sights.

Deputy276 11-01-2009 11:55

Got my SP 2009 from Southern Ohio Guns about 6 months ago (they are still available for $499). LOVE IT!!! I removed the factory night sights and installed factory dot-the-I sights. Much better visibility. :)

How does the stock 2022 trigger reset compare to a stock Glock trigger reset, excluding the Glock competition models.

SigPro2022 11-27-2009 22:46

I liked my SigPro 2022 so much I bought another to have a spare. They are accurate, reliable, and fit my hand perfectly. Give one a try, I think you will like it.
