Tell me about the Sig 230/232

I am looking to get a Sig 232 or 230 in 380 acp. It will be a CCW, it fits in my hand like it was made for me. So what do I have to look out for? Hows the recoil? I know the ammo is hard to find now.

The German 232SL is probably the most reliable .380 made and one of the best Sigs ever made.

Like all blowback .380s, the recoil makes it unsuitable for a pleasurable day at the range.

BTW, Exeter is producing them now. The only benefit I see is the front sight can be easily adjusted or changed without a gunsmith.

I have one and love it, a P232SL. It's the best damn .380 out there! (at least me thinks so) I had an interarms import PPK and as much as I like Walther's, it was a jammomatic. Like Cobra64 said, because of the blowback design, they can be a little unpleasureable to shoot for long periods, but it's not too bad. Mine regularly accompanies me when I go to San Diego to visit my girl. I usually take the train down there and walk to her place from Downtown since she doesn't drive. San Diego, even downtown is a pretty safe city but at night there are a lot of vagrants walking about and I feel real safe packing that little SIG. It's the perfect size. I keep mine loaded with silvertip hollow points.

And by the way, I've never, ever had any kind of malfunctions with that gun! You could do much, much worse!

I had and liked my P232. I traded it because it was a bit too heavy for my ankle holster. Nice reliable gun with no issues.

I have a p232 that I am lukewarm about. On the plus side the gun conceals very well since it is so thin. It is a very reliable pistol, probably the most reliable semi-auto that I own. Accuracy is very good.

On the downside, I get slide bite. The grip configuration puts me into a high hand hold that doesn't serve me well. I don't like the trigger shape. I can't squeeze the trigger without my finger sliding to the bottom and rubbing the guard. It gets irritated after awhile.

Finally, no criticism of Sig because it's merely personal preference, but I don't like DA/SA. I prefer the same trigger pull for each round.

It sure is one nicely made, good looking little gun though.

It's a great iwb ccw pistol. You get a full grip, the sights are excellent, it's a natural pointer, and follow-up shots are SA.

I own a stainless P230. It's a very accurate shooter, but the recoil is sharp. Very dependable.

Just purchased a P232 stainless last week. I have put 100rds of Blazer Brass and American Eagle through it. I also put about 10 Speer Gold Dots with no problems. The weapon functioned at 100%. This is a good shooter and like most blow back actions very accurate. The grips (plastic) really work for me. The recoil is not all that bad. The workmanship and quaility of the pistol is top shelf. I am very satisfied with this pistol. It is a keeper.

CDNN has em for $429 with night sights. Get em quick, Mine looks new never shot.

One of my favorite Sigs of all time and my favorite 380 for sure.

My uncle carrie's one. It's a nice shooter, I just can't see carrying something that heavy in a .380acp.

I have a P232SL and it is my dedicated summer carry gun. The night sights are great, the grip is perfect for me and it is very accurate. I have smaller hands, so I don't experience the slide bite others do. Also, I find the recoil very managable--maybe it's because the SL model is all stainless steel so the added weight helps with recoil absorption.

Mine says Made in Germany--so I guess I'll hold on to it. If i can find an IWB holster like the Galco Royal Gaurd I carry my G19 in, I would be in CCW heaven.

The only issue I've had with it is that it is finicky with CCI blazer alu cased ammo. Otherwise, no issues.
