No-No on cover of Cabelas reloading catalog.
Anyone else notice the reloading no-no on the front cover of the Cabelas reloading catalog (2010 version).
Someone on Madison Ave, NY must have photo-shopped the cover. Nice steaming hot coffee cup right next to the reloader.....but it was a nice Cabelas coffee cup. |
You're very observant to notice that obvious faux pas on the cover... who the hell drinks a cup of coffee without a lit cigarette sitting next to it? These marketing people just don't understand real life.

I don't get it. I don't put my liqued right next to my press, but I do drink when I load sometimes.

Actually, I almost always have an open diet-coke. It is usually on the other workbench behind where I load. Technically speaking we're not supposed to be drinking (that kind included) when we're reloading.
|
I'm drinking right now. I am also loading primer tubes and thinking about women. Every once in a while I get really madd and slam the tube on the bench. Reloading relax's me.
|
Yeh I don't get it??? Whats the issue? I am not a reloader. Yet anyway.
|
The issue is Lead Exposure.

When you are playing with lead you shouldn't be eating, drinking, or smoking. |
I don't know what the problem is... I usally like to wipe off the press with my bare hand right after decapping then put in a big 'ol chaw.
Jack told us we just shouldn't eat the lead bullets. :whistling: In all seriousness, I usually have a bottle of water when I'm loading. At least there's a cap. |
They are aware of some things. The orginal cover had a guy mixing titegroup with RE22 while lighting a stogie with a blow torch.

Diet Pepsi is much better. :tongueout: |
Try and find the RCBS bullet feeder they show on the cover in the catalog.
If that picture on the cover is all real, due you really think that the person that took the picture or the person in the picture or anyone else on their staff know anything about reloading? Photo ops are just that photo ops. |
Some folks just have too much time on their hands.
|
Wanna bet someone marketing nerd lost their job over this?

Jack told us we just shouldn't eat the lead bullets. :whistling: Correction, I said don't eat HOT lead bullets... sucking on a few cooled cast bullets helps cut down on smoking while loading. :whistling: Jack |
My mistake, sorry Jack.

It’s all of Bush’s fault.

I always thought the copper part was supposed to go down the barrel (although it's probably easier to load mags this way...)

I wonder how they even got the magazine to load like that.

He's trying to say they feed with so much reliability that you can load them back wards

The rangemaster for my dept. (a guy who literally plays on the range, polices brass, sets up and takes down targets, does the landscaping, etc... all day long and is on the firing line whenever any shot is fired) has never had any problems with lead exposure, they make him get tested every 6 months to be sure. Sipping on a diet-coke while reloading isn't going to make you sick. Well the diet coke might, but lead won't.
