Black Rifle's at SHOT

I gotta tell you guys, the black rifle is all over SHOT this year.
Everywhere you turn there is a booth selling rifle's gadgets and Gizmo's

I looked at Daniel Defense, Troy and Samson rail systems as I want to change the older rail I have on my gun.

The DD stuff rocks, of course it's about the best. Since I had previously cut the Delta ring off my rifle I planned on going with a two piece free float that attaches to the barrel nut. I looked at Troy and Samson, I gotta say that the Samson rail (the one STAG uses OEM) is a great rail. It's 1/2 ounce lighter than any of the others and there are no tools needed to remove the lower section like the Troy and the older Samson.

It is a few bucks more at wholesale than a Troy but I like the rail a whole lot more. Once I receive the one I ordered I'll post some photo's to show the differences and why I like this rail.

I opened an account with Daniel Defense and my next rifle will have an Omega rail. That is the slickest set up I've ever seen.

DD has great products. I have a 12 Lite on a 16" middy, and their Omega 7.0 on a 16" carbine. I have a Samson rail on my Sig556; for one thing, it is so much better than the stock plastic crap that it has improved the rifle far beyond what it was. Also, the top rail runs the length of the receiver, with is a nice feature. Some people complained about the "SSSSS"-looking design of the cutouts, but I would not have noticed or called it that had it not been mentioned.

The SSSSSS cuts actually look better to me than big gaping holes

I have a DD rail on one of my Colts, and I do like it. However, the new small diameter rail with the user configured rail system that I handled at SHOT is fantastic. It's lighter and less bulky, at least as strong, and modular. I've got a 9mm Colt that needs a forend upgrade, and I'll be going with the new Troy unit.

According to the NRA, the AR is the best selling rifle design of all time, out selling even the Remington 700. So its no surprise that they are everywhere now. Semi-Auto Rifles are the mainstream now...

+1

They are some much of a main stream, that NSSF is running PSAs to educate non-gun owners.

and with the caliber options it is more accepted for a hunting rifle besides just prarie dog hunting.

Wow - that's a great video provided in the link above. Thanks for posting it - I will send it to a couple old-timers who I think would love ARs if they could get past the group-think they spit out about them.

You mean people like those "terrorist" rifles?
