Glock 21 Drop Free mags
 

I am having a problem with my Glock 21 SF that I just bought. I checked all of the mags and they are all having a hard time dropping free even with a few rounds in them.... how can I check to see if they are drop free mags?

If they are metal lined then they are drop free..If they came with your 21sf and it was bought new then they are drop free..

Does your 21sf by chance have a Picatinny rail and ambidextrous mag catch?

are you using non ambi cut mags in an ambi drop glock 21?

No and thank goodness cause I already went through that fiasco! hah... but all of my mags are metal lined and only one is from another place. I went shooting with a buddy the other day and think that I may have grabbed one of his mags by chance. I will get my mags back from him and check again but this problem only showed up since we went shooting. Thanks for the replies.

My Dept just went to the 21SF in August, we found some of the guns wouldn't drop mags all the time.
We found that some of the mag wells were tight....if you press in on the sides of the grip you can see it flex closing the mag well a little.
Our fix is to cut up some file folders in strips slightly narrower than the front to back width of the mags.
Take two or three of the strips and wrap them on the side of the mag over the feed lips and over the other side of the mag.
Then insert the mag as far into the mag well as you can.....it will be tight and won't go all the way in.
Leave it that way overnight then remove the mag and try it to see if they drop free if they don't just do it again using another thickness of the file folder.
This opens up the magwell allowing the mags to drop free.
It works well and if over time they start to get tight again just use the folder strips again.
I had to do this to my issued gun which I've had about 6 months and the mags still drop free like the day I did this.

Glock has never advertised magazines to be drop free. NFML magazines were replaced by FML magazines early in the 90's. If your mags came with the pistol, then they are FML magazines. You will never, ever win a long distance magazine ejecting contest with a Glock.

Glock magazines are not "drop free" as is stated they are Full Metal Lined. The magazine is designed to not stick while the magazine is fully loaded.
