Holster/Belt selection questions???
I am wanting to put a first line belt set up together, but would like to see if the belt and holster setup will be legal to compete in USPSA.
I am thinking about a Blue Force Gear SOC-C molle padded belt and a Blade-tech duty style holster. Would a set up like this be legal for competition? I don't actually intend on competing, but I would like to do the weekly practice with the guys at my local club.
Links to products I'm thinking of using.
Thanks in advance!
SHANE - I double checked with John Amidon, who is the last word in USPSA rules. I was pretty sure the belt set up was illegal in USPSA and John confirmed my suspicion.
The belt (Blue Force Modular Padded Belt Kit ) is illegal as it does not meet the following criteria:Regarding the holster, John said,
The Holster, while DOH holsters are allowed in some divisions, we do not allow light attachment to them so there is no point in having a holster for a light, when they cannot be used, however, if they chose to use it and it met the 2” requirement as outlined in the appendix, it does not look like it would pass the heel of the butt above the belt as described in...Here's the link to the USPSA Rule Book for your future reference. I suggest looking at another holster from Blade-Tech, if you plan to stick with that brand, and look to Safarliand for a inner/outer belt combination. There are other belt makers you may also want to look at. Hope that helps. - ERHARDT
I appreciate the response with the details you have supplied. I was worried about that. I was just looking at playing around with the local guys on a practice night, as I work weekends and could never competer anyhow. I wanted to build a set up like this for carbine and combat pistol classes, but double as playing around at the club practices.
Would you suggest asking the local director of my club to see if they would allow me to practice with such a set up? Even though I'm not competing, or do you feel it would be a waste of time.
Thanks again for all your help.
