Joy of a J frame
 

I qualified recently to carry my J frame in accordance to my agency's policy. I cannot believe how comfortable it is to carry now. I love the accuracy and ammo capacity of my G-19. It is so easy to slip on a tee shirt, holster my J frame in it's Fobus paddle holster and go about my business. I find myself carrying my J frame more and more as the summer heats up.

I have two Model 60's and a Model 12 Airweight. They are simply the best.

My motto is: "If you can't get the job done in five rounds, you probably shouldn't be carrying a pistol.

My Glock 19 sees little carry anymore..
The J Frame Smith is hard to beat for carry, I love my Airweight M642/942 & 940..

I carry my 340 Sc as a BUG and I get a little fun poked at me from the younger guys. That is until qualificaton day, and I shoot the same 30 round course as we do with our primary weapons. Nothing wrong with the sub-compact Glocks, I carry one often. However, I find myself choosing the J frame for errrands, and it makes a great "always" gun.

I have an opinion about the little Kel-tecs and LCP's, however I own a LCP, and it beats nothing when it is as big as I can carry in certain summer attire.

I own six J frames, and originally carried a model 60 for years as a BUG and off duty choice. The 340 Sc is easy to carry and with practice very well suited for self defense. I have been on my soap box for years about the excellent choice of J frames for off duty, and BUG's.

One of my J-Frames has been in my Offhand Pocket for about Eight Years doing duty as a backup. My carry gun is on the Right side on or in the Belt. When I first started to practice with a J-Frame I could not believe how accurate they are and how good of a shot you can make by staging the trigger on the DAO Guns.

I love j frames. They are by far my most favorite guns to shoot. I had a 642, that I sold to fund a 340M&P. I later picked up a no lock 442 and an older 60. I have my sights on a few more. The 43C and the pro series 640.

Easiest guns to carry with a ton of holster options.

i love my model 60. All summer long i carry this little beauty and i wouldnt trade it for any other gun. This thing can def. get the job done.

99% of my carry needs are met with a good J frame like the M 49 or 442.

The 2010 Concealed Carry Handguns "PocketPistols" has tons of snubbie goodness. There is still alot of bottom feeder articles, but I can live with that.

They are my two favorite carry weapons..
I fit a 940-1 cylinder to the 642 Airweight & now it's a convertible 9mm/38spl & uses the full moon clips for my 940..
The 940s cylinder has been reamed to now accept .356TSW, 9x23, 9x21, 38Super & 9mm..
The Grips were made for me by Craig Spegel..

I carry the 642 as a vest gun, and it also sees considerable off duty carry. This is the gun I carry when I otherwise wouldn't carry at all.

If you don't own at least one J frame you have no soul.:wow:

I own quite a few carry guns and I carry my SP101, Glock19, Les Baer Stinger, etc. BUT, my 340PD and 442 are with me 75% of the time. Every year it seems that those two nudge the others out more. In time they'll probably be the ONLY guns that go with me. Besides, it makes better sense FOR ME to carry guns that "work" and feel the same.

Every one should have at least one J frame.Mine has been carried more than any of my other guns.

having recently picked up my new No lock 340 M&P

For concealed carry...it is hard to beat a j-frame.
sure, there are much better choices when discussing capacity, accuracy, and reloading speed..
but for sheer concealibility and power-to-weight ratio..... I am hooked on the j-frames.

I am eagerly awaiting some range time with my 340, and will post pics and a full report..just as soon as I can.

Just qualified with my 642 today. I normally carry a Glock 26 off-duty, but like the 642 for some types of off-duty carry due to its smaller size and lighter weight. The 642 will also be my BUG when working.

99.9% of my ccw needs can be met with a J frame, but i carry a hi-cap 9mm or heavy duty loaded 10mm...et cetera....even though i regulate my J frames to BUG duty, im honest enough to recognize they'd perform equally well as my primary.

dont know if id ever be able to walk out of the house with "just" a J frame, but i know i wont be getting rid of any of them either.

Been carrying J frames as BUG and off duty weapon since mid 1964. Currently own a Mod.60 (purchased new in 1968), a Mod.36 Classic, Mod.637 and Mod.642. Still carry a J frame as BUG and sometimes carry (in the summer).

Would recommend getting a new holster.

Kramer pocket holster is good if you like pocket carry. Requires some type of slacks, though a lot of LE carry in their REAR support side pocket as BUG. Specify this if ordering from Kramer as they are specific as to which side is facing out (flattened profile of the pocket holster).
