M&P Safety
Can an aftermarket safety be added to an M&P that isn't equipped with one? Specifically can a safety be added to a 9L or Pro? Thanks.

Humm, Smith has a kit for folks who want to remove the safety but to add.
There are small half moon shaped cutouts in the frame to accommodate the safety rod and the removal kit includes little plugs for them. Don't know how you would cut them out. |
Thanks I did not know that. I had an M&P without the safety, so I wasn't aware of the cuts. I appreciate the info.....Sounds like the answer to my question is "no".

According to what I have read, the frames are different- you can take one off ,but can't add one.

I thought the frames were the same. Mine has the hole in the side and the little arrow indicating safety on but no safety. It is a 9Pro

I think what you are seeing is the plug over the internal lock. Or the place for the key if you have an internal lock. Just in front of the rear most roll pin on the left side right? Look at your manual, the thumb safety sits in cut outs at the top of the frame and is on both sides of the pistol. |
You are very correct. Thank you
