Tokarev hammer bite!

:steamed: who gets it? my polish and romainian both bite the heck out of my hand. anyone come up with a good soloution? yeah, i know, adjust my grip.... i was thinking of molding a beaver tail out of JB weld and using some high grade sealant to attach it so it isnt perminant. ive also been considering making one out of metal and just welding the dam thing on. its a fun pistol to shoot, love the cartrage but the hammer bite is really bugging me.:crying:

If parts are available, buy two spare hammers and have then bobbed by a competent smith before installation. (For all I know, you might be able to do this yourself!) Keep the original hammers and you always can reverse the modification or resell gun without loss. You can't do that with a weld job....

hmm, didnt even cross my mind to bob the hammer. i like that idea. ill have to do some lookin of the net for pics. thanks for the idea!

instead of just doing the hammer, buy a whole hammer assembly. modify the new assembly you get so you have the original unharmed.

switching out a tokarev hammer assembly takes less time than taking off the slide.

good point. however the firing groups ive seen cost 80$ if im gonna spend that much ill just buy another pistol. labor is cheep. im cheep. ill spend an hour cleaning a PCV valve before i spend 10$ on a new one

and so, with a few magical swipes of the mill(more like 2 hours) hammer bite is forever banished! i milled the back of the hammer down flat verry slowly so i didnt heat it up much and rounded off the sides and top. smoothed and polished the back then threw on some cold blue that unfortunatly dosent really matchthe original blue so i guess ill have to strip the whole hammer and polishe it so it will have an even color. verry happy with the way it turned out. still plenty of meat to cock it with. thanks perfesser!
