Project gun,.......Springfield Loaded, **DONE**
So I picked up an NM prefix Springfield Loaded.
It's going to be a bit of a project gun, I have the following planned: -Round butt or bob-tail still undecided -Sight change, 10-8 or ??? -Carry bevel, very light, just knocking off the sharp edges -Thumb safety blend lever upon install -Blend slide to frame at rear -Blend GS fit -Harrison short trigger -Blend contours of slide stop Will have to farm out the refinish, plan on CeraKote Progress pics: http://s30.beta.photobucket.com/user...aded%20project http://s30.beta.photobucket.com/user...ject%20bobtail |
You really should post some in-progress pics when you start.

Changed the thumb safety & put the Ed Brown grips on last night. need to work on the disconnector, the slide is stumbling on it during forward travel. |

Lookin' good!
You know, I was just thinking that I'd love to have a bob-tailed full-size 1911. Just an idea, and I know that you probably can't do it yourself, but Hi-Power carry cuts would look awesome on that gun. deadite |
I have thought of having the FCSs milled off,.......leaving cuts
similar to a Hi-Power |

Not saying that is what yours is doing, but a place to look. I would go with a small round butt. I had the first Bobtail on my block and did not like it, traded it off and bought a new receiver to put my upper on. |
Will take a look at that Jim'....thanks for the suggestion!
I am looking at a round butt as oposed to the bobtail |
Decided to do the round butt, if I screw it up, I'll do the bobtail!
Ok,.........I'm goin' in! http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ndbuttpic1.jpg http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ndbuttpic2.jpg http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ndbuttpic3.jpg |
This is a cool thread. Looking like fun.

And the rest of the pics,.......
http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...roject%20pics/ The end result? Not too bad for a Rookie, I'm pleased with it. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...dbuttpic23.jpg |
Nice!!!!
FWIW, i replace my SA sear springs for Colt sear springs. |
Looks great!
|
Looks nice. I like the round butt.
I looked for a GI, Mil-spec, or Loaded NM sn gun yesterday at the gun show. No dice. (did they even make GI's with an NM sn?) If you want to keep the parkerized look, Sniper Grey Cerakote matches the old parked finish pretty well. Just food for thought. Or, what color were you thinking? |
I am undecided on color,.......down to either Graphite Black or Sniper Grey
|
Nice work on the round butt Greg.I really like it.
