1/9 or 1/16 twist for 10/22 threaded barrel ?
I'm looking at purchasing a threaded replacement barrel for my stainless 10/22. The ones I see from Tactical Innovations are available in either 1 in 9 or 1 in 16 twist. Which twist rate does the stock barrel come with ? I'm thinking I want to keep the standard twist rate so I thought I would ask those in the know....
Thanks, Steve |
Ok 1 in 9 is the stock twist rate. I found it.

A standard twist for the .22 Long Rifle is 1:16".
The 1:9" is designed for those who want to most effectively use the Aguila 60-grain SSS ammo: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/250...ead-round-nose |

Check Ruger web site 1:16 twist is standard on all 10-22 http://ruger.com/products/1022Takedown/models.html Hub mobile, the outdoor information engine |
When shooting larger rounds you have to match the bullet weight/speed to the twist for the best results.

1:16 is the industry standard for a .22LR barrel twist rate. They use 1:16 because it works!
