I just had to.....
Walking into McBride's gun store yesterday in Austin TX, I stumbled upon the H&K display.
H&K and Beretta are both HARD to find in Austin. A lot of the locals do not carry the brands. Well long story short, I finally settled on a H&K P30 V3 9mm..... The only word I can use to describe this firearm is perfect. About 7 months ago I sold my entire Glock collection and switched to a H&K USP 45 and Beretta 92FSs. Now, I'm looking for a IWB leather hoslter. I do not want a crossbreed type as I've owned them with my GLocks and Berettas. Any recommendations? |
Just bought night sights !

Nice, I love the P30.

Just canceled my night sight order lol - stripped the gun today and noticed it came with them. Can ya tell I'm still learning?

They glow in the dark for a while if you pre-charge them with a flashlight. But they are not real NS. If you plan on carrying the gun for self defence? Recommend you get real NS. That's what came on my NIB P30 at any rate. Other than real NS the gun needs nothing. My P30 40 LEM V2 has been bombproof right out of the box. |
Whether or not they are night sights depends on the gun. I also just picked up a p30 and the sights are definitely tritium. The rear also is cut at a forward angle to be able to be cycled with one hand. I think they are tru glo.

Both of mine have the glow-in-the-dark sights you have to charge with a flashlight. Still haven't decided on what to put in there for night sights yet...I'd like to put Trijicon HDs, but they're not made for either one yet. Anyhow, congrats on the new HK, and be sure to swing by Red's (they have North and South in the Austin area) if you need to check out some H&K stuff in-person. |
I will, was thinking about taking wife to Reds to shoot a few different guns next week sometime.

Congrats on a great pistol.

Okay, semi off-topic, who do you like more, McBride's, Austin Gun Liquidators, or The Gun Store? After buying my Glock from The Gun Store, and finding pretty good customer service, they were prompt, offered advice when I asked for it, but their selection is extremely lacking. If you want a firearm, you're set, if you want accessories, you're screwed. So then I went to AGL, and they seem pretty good, and they're like 10 minutes away from me, which is nice. Haven't been to McBride's yet though, but might give them a shot if you recommend them and they have a good selection of accessories.
On topic though, does McBride's have a 92FS? I'm thinking that will be my first non-glock pistol. |
Great choice! As far as a holster, I really like my Raven Concealment, Blade Tech, and Kramer gun leather.
Kramer is pricy but worth every penny! Enjoy your new gun! |

I have NOT been to the Gun Store. However, I use to frequent AGL often when he was off the access road. He recently moved next to academy in RR. My brother knows the owner WELL. However, he is not all that friendly and unless he KNOWS you are there to buy, he doesn't seem to like people handling the firearms otherwise and is not good about answering questions. His accessories seriously LACK. My last purchase from him was a STI Trojan and it will be my LAST purchase there. Guns + is in Georgetown and they have great customer service, however, their selection is not great. You can find good used firearm deals there though. Every time I am in GTown I stop by there. Last time there I picked up a nice P238. Dawson's, I've never been. McBride's: Out of all the local places I've actually visited, this is by far my favorite. Nice selection of new and used. They carry everything it seems, including some LaRue rifles. I did not see any new STI guns though. They do have Sigs, Berettas (yes a new 92FS, I have a used one if you're local and interested I could send you pics) H&Ks, Kahrs, Spring Field, Desert Eagle and tons more. They have the largest revolver selection out of any I've seen. Great store, friendly staff and Joe is usually there on site. |
Congrats, H&K are great pistols.

Nice, yes. Perfect, no.

Congratulations on your purchase. :)
