Springfield Loaded
I'm thinking about buying my first 1911.I want a 5" stainless and would like to be under $1,000.00 if I can find one in that price range that will make me happy. The S.A. Loaded is one of the front runners,it already has the ambidextrous safety, wich would be nice since I'm a lefty.I'm not big on mods but you never know, would this be an ok platform to start with?As long as it shoots good,I wouldn't want to do much.Is there any real reason you wouldn't want one?I've looked a Ruger SR1911 and it looked ok but I didn't think it looked as good as the S.A. Loaded. Is there any 5" stainless under a $1,000.00 that would be better? Thanks!

Colt makes an all SS XSE model. Based on what I paid for my Combat Elite, it should certainly come in at under a grand. No ambi safety, though.

I have the SA loaded. Love it! I would highly recommend it. Has everything I want and need.

I have a Loaded in 9mm that has been very fun to play with. I've only shot my Ruger about three times but for less than $700 bucks it would be very hard to beat.
This am there was a Springfield Mil-Spec that has been worked on by SACS on 1911addicts.com. It's beautiful and in your price range. If it were stainless I would buy it. |
I'd take the Ruger over the Loaded any day, especially for the price.
Any reason you need stainless? |

I'm not real big on stainless guns to begin with, but I prefer the looks of the Ruger as well. |

I'm not a huge Colt 1911 fan as compared to some others, but would take an XSE over a Loaded. |
Here is my loaded. Has been 100% from day one. I held a Ruger at my LGS it was nice as well, can't go wrong with either.

I love my Loaded, has been flawless since day 1 as well.
If you find a good deal then go for it. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b4...s/72aaf8cf.jpg |

I bought a stainless Loaded after I saw one in my favorite shop.
I wasn't looking for it, but it was for a really good price and so I thought why not check it out. I've heard the negatives and the comparisons so I really didn't expect much. I have other Springfield 1911's and everyone of them is an excellent gun. I don't know if I just found a good one or not but it was the tightest fit gun (1911) that I've ever had and it was just a well made nice looking gun. I bought it and I really liked it after I shot it. Great shooter. Now my advice is to look at 1911's in a few gun stores and then decide what you want. The Loadeds have some nice features but so do other guns. Shop around and then decide what you want. |
I have two loaded pistols that I don't really care for. It's small things really. Like a walking link pin and rear sight on the stainless model, and the parked gun choking on lead wad-cutters. I don't like the grip safety on either and that is really what keeps me from shooting them.
Though I really don't care enough to even sell them. I probably wouldn't buy them again though. I do have a stainless GI that I love though. I'd be more inclined to look for a Colt or perhaps save a few more bucks and get a Dan Wesson. |

That's a nice looking gun , Greg.

Thanks Brian,.......very little is left of the Loaded.
Mainly just frame, slide & barrel. |
SA has a good reputation but I prefer an American made 1911 for a gun in the 1k range I would go colt Xse or rail gun

I stopped by another LGS last night and did get to look at a Colt, wasn't bad either,I think it was $1025.00 but might have been alittle more. The guy behind the counter must of been having a bad day and pizzed me off soon as I asked to look at it,so I was having a hard time staying focused,I had to keep fighting the urge to tell him to Fxxk himself.lol!I also looked at the Ruger alitte more,I think what I don't like about it is the disscharge opening looks bigger (not sure if I said that right or not).Is it bigger?
