If Christianity Is So Bad...
Then why is it the world's largest religion?
http://chartsbin.com/view/3nr http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0904108.html Christianity 2.1 billion Islam 1.5 billion Hinduism 900 million Buddhism 376 million Sikhism 23 million Judaism 14 million Bahaism 7 million Confucianism 6.3 million Jainism 4.2 million Shintoism 4 million Atheism makes up 2.32% of the world's population, while Christianity makes up 33.32%. 93.5% of the world's population follows one religion or another and believes in a higher power. 2.32% (atheists) do not. Can so few be right and so many be wrong? What are the odds of that? |
At one time a significant portion of the "educated" world thought the Earth was flat...

This argumentum ad populum approach is just about as stupid as losing sleep over Mayan calendar hysteria.

Other religions require real dedication. I know I know... those aren't real Christians and I don't know what I'm talking about... M'kay. |
Cool. Looks like you guys are way out ahead. I guess you all can stop with the Christian persecution BS now.
And yet the world seems to be heading in a distinctly secular direction despite less than 3% being atheists. Christians bawl and scream every day about this nation and most of Europe moving away from god. Wonder why that is? Could your figures be off? Are these all real Christians that you agree with on everything or are you just using their numbers when it's convenient to support your assertions? |
The results of the recent election haven't convinced you that large numbers of ignorant people skew the statistics?
|
If you haven't noticed by now JB, the majority of the world isn't exactly what most people would call smart. That's probably why Christianity is the biggest religion.

Isn't it stupid they even say that? |

I'm really tempted to call myself a christian for a day just to see if it pisses off the bible thumpers when I call myself a christian but don't follow any of the beliefs or rules that they do.

well theres the lack of beheading and all that....
|
You're making an argument from popularity -- a logical fallacy -- as G26S239 pointed out.
Muslims out number Catholics (and all other sects of Christianity for that matter), so by your reasoning Islam isn't so bad compared to Catholicism? Catholics out number Protestants, so Catholicism is more valid than Protestantism? In the general election the Democrat candidate received more votes than the Republican candidate, so the Democratic platform must be more valid than the Republican platform? Do those sound like compelling arguments to you? If not, why not? -ArtificialGrape |

Maybe someone should have read Isaiah... "It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in." - Is 40:22 |

By the way, your list leaves out the growing (unlike christianity) #3 religious belief, NONE OF THE ABOVE. |

And to answer most of your questions, because your faith is not above ridicule. In fact it's often begging for it. That's why. |
Fair enough. You are free to believe or not. I just wish you'd be aware that what you say you will answer for....as we all will. Post away.

I am sure there are a lot of reasons Christianity is like the McDonalds of religion. Some are good, some are bad. Regardless, I wouldn't let it distract me from sharing the gospel or living my life as an example to others. Hopefully I used enuff big words for the Atheists here. |

That is like me saying I have issues with Santa Claus. Been away from RT for a month and look, things are still the same: Atheist continue to belittle Christians. |
