Anyone own or heard of a Colt Talo 01991CCG?
Hi,
Anyone familiar with Colts new Talo Goverment edition? I like the specs: match barrel, no FCS, FO front sight, wide notch Novak in rear, beavertail, extended thumb safety and slim grips. It's a 80 series, but I have read that the trigger is excellent. What do you guys think? This would be my winter CC gun. Price is around 1K. Thanks |
So it's like the XSE but with fiberoptics front sight and no stupid front serration.
I can dig it. I don't know if I'd dig the slim grips. That looks like the same one on my Talo .38 Super Lightweight Commander. I'm not sold on slim grips yet, though I suppose that for a person of extremely small hands it'd come in handy. |
I like !!!!!!!!

I just bought one and its fantastic. The fit and finish is excellent and the trigger pull is above average. Highly recommend!

I have one. I was going to give it to my dad for a Christmas gift, but I ended up getting him a different colt. I got him the colt talo with the gold bead front sight. I think I paid right at 1000 dollars for it. The fit on it is really good and the trigger is really nice. I have a colt reproduction 70 series, and the talo is way better (IMO). I changed out the red fiber optic for a green one. I haven't shot it yet, but I'm sure it's shoots just as good as any colt.

There is no way I can believe a Talo 1991 is better than a Series
70 reproduction. Not in this lifetime. |
What's so special about the current Series 70 other than no firing pin block?

Sorry, I wrote that last night when I was about to go to bed. I paid 1059 otd for the colt that you're asking about. I forgot which model I bought him, but it's a full size without fcs. I'll post some pics when I get home. |
Alright, here's a few pics. The one in the middle is the one you're asking about. The one with the finger groves in it, is the one I got my dad. It's a 70 series with the brass bead. It has the gi thumb safety, so you might not like that. The one I got him is model number 01911WC.
I was wrong, I changed my fiber optic from green to red. I think the red looked better. The third colt in the pic is a reproduction 70's series. I don't know if you can tell or not, but I don't see any major roll marks. Both of the colt talo's have a better trigger than the colt 70's series. I think you should go for it!! Sorry for the small pics. I don't know how to resize them? Outdoor Hub mobile, the outdoor information engine |
Thanks, great looking Colts. I think the FO front sight is more visible than the brass one.

Mine arrived earlier this week and I got a chance to put 50 rounds thru it. Good trigger and very accurate and no BTF :whistling:

Sights are also the same. Roll marks? Don't make a difference to me. |

I personally much prefer Series 70 Colts. That said, I do own some Series 80 models that I like, such as the Special Combat. |
