Becoming FFL

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but if it is not please someone direct me elsewhere.

I'd like to become an FFL dealer. Not simply for my personal use but for friends and family, as well as convenience for those in my city and to help fund things like my schooling and passion with firearms. I know I need to check the zoning of my city and I've read as much as I can really find on the subject.

My question is, is it worth it? Becoming a home dealer? Is there even really a profit to be made without a storefront and accessories? I guess before I get too excitedabout the possibility of selling guns and ammo I'd like to get a perspective from anyone who has done this or anything similar.

I've had mine twice over the years and let them go. I love the business, but I was more concerned with the tax implications. You will find all your family and pals want a deal but don't understand when your price is higher than Walmart. The state make more money than I did. It wasn't worth it to me. Just a note, I have a friend who has had his license for nearly 20 years for the same reason as you. Well, he has his first inspection this Thursday. ATF agent indicate that Obama administration was mandating inspections of all FFL holders to weed out those that aren't really businesses. Good luck.

Thank you. That's exactly what I needed to know.
