printer advice

I'm wanting to buy a decent printer for once. I don't care about color or photo printing. My main concern is that if I want to print something (probably text) that I print it fast. Any suggestions?

You want fast or do you want professional quality?

Look on ebay and other places for an HP LaserJet 4. You can get it shipped for less than $100 and you'll have a laserjet that does 600X600 and is supported by every OS out there.

Quality in regards to printing photos is not important at all. I mainly want to print stuff out to read during travel at a later date. As long as it prints out the text with good quality, which I guess they all do, I just want it to be fast.

I did some looking up on my current OLD printer and it prints at 3.5 ppm. I've seen some printers for under a hundred that print up to 19 ppm.

Another related question: Any benefit to having a printer that connects with a USB?

Thanks.

I also have the laserjet 1200 and recommend it. However they don't make it anymore. The laserjet 1300 is the same exact priter with more RAM and it prints faster.

A couple people around the office have just recently upgraded to laserjet 1300's and after seeing them in action I'm quite impressed.

The accountant for instance used to have a laserjet 4p and at the end of the month it would take her 4 hours to print out all the necessary documents she needed to wrap up the month. Now, it only takes 15 minutes. ;g
