Who knew dragonflies were so hairy?

Micro lenses are alot of fun. Too bad they have pretty much no depth of field close in. Next time I'll have to try this from a tripod. Too many of them just weren't quite focused where I wanted.

Just shot it this past Saturday late morning. They were strangely fearless. 2 of them had landed on this "tree" that's only about 3' tall. I was able to walk right up to within 2-3' of them and they didn't care.

It wasn't bravado... dragon flies are generally pretty sluggish in the morning until the sun dries them a little. Morning dew doesn't phase us much, but its rough when you weigh the same amount as a paper clip.

I snapped this one last week. Focus is a little bit off, but I never knew they could be so.....blue. :)
