Double Tap has substituted inexpensive Montana Gold bullets for the XTPs in their controlled expansion load. This puts it in the category of high powered and high priced range ammo, not self defense ammo. They made the substitution without any indication on their website or packaging. This caused people to find out the hard way. They opened up their ammo and found out that they paid good money for low end ammo.
Midway didn't help things any by shipping the Montana Gold to people that ordered the 'Bonded' 180 grain HP that should be loaded with Gold Dots.
I can see that lately some of the better bullets have been hard to come by. But burning your loyal customers isn't going to help the situation.
