Ok i'm gonna be off the wall here. You said a home defense shotgun that is kinda practical but also loads of fun and it fits inside your budget. I got myself a stoeger coach gun with internal hammers and two triggers in blue. Stupid fun and since you said you where looking at a over under not much difference. Its heavy enough to shoot 3 inch magnum turkey loads with just a grunt and a limb saver and short enough to go bump in the night if you want or need it to.
