Ive always run my AR's at just above "dry", and never had any issues, even with continuous shooting. Then again, thats probably just a hold over from the old Dri Slide days. 
I suppose if you were shooting a lot, and things were slowing down or gunking up, and you couldnt clean it, squirting extra lube into the works could keep things going for a little while, but all that extra lube in there in the first place, more likely contributed to the problem.
Then theres always cold weather. |
I have yet to read anybody say this with any factual basis. People seem to just make it up and start saying it, just because.
