The Carver looks to be shorter more compact, but it bleeds a lot off to the sides...
The SJC is longer and doesn't bleed as much energy to the sides till the end of the comp.

Personally I don't use comps, but they are helpful for competition shooters in some situations to keep muzzle clme down. The comps also add more noise near the shooter and bystanders and yes the flash exits those ports too!
