Wired or Wireless
I recently closed/glassed in a small screened porch on my house to use as an office. I ran power and coaxial (for cable modem) through the short "wall" area under the windows.
With the project finally finished, I moved my desk and computer in. When I hooked up the cable modem, it didn't work. After some experimenting, it looks like somehow the cable is the problem - I actually took a short cable, the modem, my telephone which uses the cable modem outside and plugged the modem straight into the cable box on the side of my house and it worked fine. (don't ask how the cable could possibly be screwed up, the chances seem one in a million that I somehow hit it with a nail or screw or something, but that's the way thing goes when I do projects)
So now I can't hook the modem up in there which means I can't hook my desktop computer up. I usually use my laptop wirelessly throughout the house, but I usually let my desktop run as a sort of file server.
Will it be really crappy if I try to do this with a wireless adapter hooked up to my desktop instead of the wired connection that I was using?

1. How difficult would it be to run a new Coax out there?
2. With the router/modem in its normal place, is there no way you can run Cat6 cable out there?
If you're letting your PC serve as some sort of file server, I'd figure out a way to make a wired connection out there, as opposed to wireless, but thats just me.

I agree.
The problem is, like I said, I am done with the room. The sheetrock is painted, the trim is up, everything is done. I didn't test the coax, I just assumed it would work.
Oh yea, and the floor is a concrete slab (now with tile on top).

It sounds like you have your answer. The only thing I can say is to try it (wireless) and see how it works for you. I personally would prefer to have it wired and I would do whatever was needed to get it that way.

Try replacing the splitter the coax is plugged into. If that doesn't do it, then your conjecture that the coax is the problem is right, but I would suspect the splitter more than the coax, personally.
You can do this, pull back the coax to the source with a stringer attached, then pull the stringer back with some cat5/6 attached to it, and another coax if you want some tv in your new office. (assuming it's not tacked down inside the wall)
I personally wouldn't go wireless if you're going to be sharing files off your desktop. I know when I move files around, I need a minimum of 100m/fdx otherwise I'd be waiting days for stuff to finish moving.

Was gonna suggest that. There's gotta be a way to get a feed through there so you can run some cat6 out there, which I would do before running new coax, BTW..

He could (assuming there is space at all the constriction points) attach both wires to the same stringer. Just need to make sure the stringer is strong (i've used nylon rope when it's been too long or complex for my fish tape) and that the cables are properly secured to the stringer. (lots and lots of electrical tape and tying them in a knot if you have the space)
