A Disappointing Find
I've been able to control my impulse buying lately but will always make an exception here and there.
I decided to go to a few shops today looking for an FNP 45 or something similar. I always look through the 1911 case just because I never know what each shop will have.
Well I found one that I have been considering for some time, a Colt WW1 Repro. The price was fair so I couldn't help but look at it. I love the look and feel, even though the hammer would bite me, but the more I handled it the more I noticed something was wrong. The slide was hanging up and staying to the rear without a magazine inserted and the grip safety didn't feel right, even with a firm hold it wasn't dropping the hammer.
Needless to say I wasn't about to buy a pistol knowing it might have to go straight back to the factory. It could have been an easy fix or it could have been on the Colt recall, I didn't write the serial number to check.
So, has this happened to anyone else? You find the gun you want only to discover something is wrong before you get it out the door.
