I have 2,500 170gr .40 bullets from Precision Bullets on hand.

They're coated in some sort of "dry lube" polymer coating.

Here's the deal. I need to work up a pretty hot .40 load to make major power factor for USPSA. Are these bullets safe in an OEM Glock 35 barrel or do I need to either get a KKM barrel or sell these bullets and use jacketed?

Here's what it says on their FAQ page:

Q: Can I use Precision Bullets in my Glock?
A: Yes and No. We have many Glock shooters using Precision Bullets in factory Glock barrels with great results. However, I tell all Glock shooters it is try and see. If you have tried plated bullets and accuracy was good without keyholing, then ours should be fine. If you have tried traditional cast lead bullets and accuracy was good after 200+ rounds without heavy fouling, then our bullets will work fine and shoot a lot cleaner.
If your Glock won’t shoot Precision Bullets, then it will have problems fast—heavy fouling in 50 to 100 rounds, very poor accuracy, keyholing, etc. Then you will have to stick with jacketed bullets. However, this is very rare.

I had bad luck with them in my G34. Get a small batch and try. Thats the only way your going to know.

Thats better then me. I think my first batch was 3500 of them. I was really glad to see the last of them go.

The KKM is a much better barrel or you could take the step up and get a Barsto.

Lizard is a Montana Gold distributor. So we get $5 off the 3 case price (or some such thing). It saves a little money so I use that.

I'm getting some 180gr lead bullets and a Lone Wolf barrel. They won't be HOT loads. Major power factor reloads are actually lighter than factory ammo. They just won't be powderpuff loads.

This here. .40 is very easy to make major pf with a heavy slow bullet. This will give you a MUCH more mild recoil than a hot load. 70g ? Seriously? Take this in the right way - ARE YOU NUTS???

IF you can do it, which I highly doubt, your bullet will have to be going 2,358 fps to make major. If you succeed, recoil will be awful.

Okay, I just checked their website and they do not make a 70g bullet so it must be the 170. You will need to load to 971 fps to make major. That would not be terrible. I personally would not use moly coated bullets, but it shouldn't hurt a glock barrel. Most stainless barrels will be damaged by a steady diet of moly bullets over time. As the moly coating is exposed to higher temperatures, it can actually change the molecular structure of it and turn it into an abrasive. These temperatures can be achieved in rapid pistol firing as would be encountered in USPSA.

for any glock 40 no matter what bullet used,,when using reloads i would use an after market barrel. i like and use kkm. it is better safe than sorry. also i use after market (kkm) in 9mm and 45acp. i shoot cast lead reloads 98% of the time in my glocks.

Hopefully that is a typo and you meant 170 gr. What you really need to ask yourself is, how much shooting am I going to be doing and would it be cheaper to use the bullet I have and get a different barrel or sell these and go with jacket bullets? Dollar wise the moly bullets and a different barrel would be cheaper but drop in barrels are not always accurate. Also moly bullets will smoke more than jacketed and lots more than hollow points. Based on what I saw at the Nationals, I would suggest a different barrel and shoot lots of lead or moly and smoke be damned.

Ditto here for my G 19's, 17's and 31's. Montana Gold bullets are great.
I very recently loaded 400 West Coast (remember them?) plated 124 gr 9mm RN I found in a forgotten box. I charged them with 4.6 gr. Titegroup and Federal SPP.

At 25 yds. they would not stay on the center circle of an IDPA target. You could never push the plated or lead very fast. Needless to say the remainder will be used for up close & personal training.

I'm shooting 155 Precision Bullets over Ramshot Sihouette in a G22. Doing just fine, works for me. Accuracy is normal. Never tried in my G35 though.

As always, watch out for pressure signs!

Yes.

But again, I'm not using a G35 barrel but a trade-in 2nd gen G22. I don't know if that matters anyway. I'd say give it a try.
