Supernova mag tube extension
I'm looking for options for a mag tube extension for my Benelli. The Nordic Components one looks like a good option from the reviews. Does anyone have a better option or any experience with the Nordic Components parts? They have the barrel clamps with picatinny rails for mount lights also. Does anyone have any input on the subject? Thanks, Shima

Isnt it crazy how much a simple tube like a mag extension costs? $79 is alot of money for a part that mechanically is about as simple as it gets buy hey, it is very good quality.
I think the Nordic extension is amazing but in the grand scheme of things it isnt a "must have option". Kinda like the analogy of a hammer. A $10 dollar hammer will pound nails just as "effectively" as a $1000 hammer made out of a billet of titanium wit a carbon fiber handle. Are you really getting next generation performance out of an expensive part like a Nordic? It will impress folks though and that is important to some people.
Its a mag tube. They are cave man simple. I have had Choate and Tac-Star mag tubes in the past that did the job flawlessly and contrary to the hype, they never fell off or broke off.

Well, the way I see it is that by the design of the Benelli not being as conducive to a tac star side saddle for extra ammo as say a Mossy or an 870, I want to pack as much ammo as I can inside the Benelli. (within reason obviously) I'll probably get some sort of a butt stock ammo carrier as well. I REALLY hope if the day ever comes that I need to use the gun, I don't have to reload. I may want to carry different shells in the stock shell carrier than what's in the gun though.

Why aren't the Benellis as conducive to a side saddle?
I've seen some nice options out there.

i plan on getting the nordic extension the end of this week. i also just found this mount that on mesa's website says it fits benelli pistol grip stocks. the website selling it says for m2 and m4 only but it looks like it should fit. i emailed mesa to find out and will post the response when i get it.

I thought it was a bad design the second i saw it. Confirmed by user reports. So i got the Mesa carrier for the PG stock, don't know if you have the PG model or not.

Keep me informed. I wish you had both of those and the Choate so you could do a Youtube review on them, so I could see a good comparison. I don't think I want to skimp on something that I may someday have to depend on in a life or death situation, so maybe $80 for the Nordic Components extension isn't so bad.

I agree Shima, A sexy Benelli deserves the sexy Nordic. Mossberg? Probably not lol. I am splitting my tax return with the wife so I'll have a few grand to play with next week!

I know what you mean on splitting the tax return. I got a G26 and she got a DSLR camera. I also got a new set of Nitto tires for the truck, so I can't complain that she wont let me get the Nordic extension right now.

I've had the Nordic Components +2 mag extension on my SuperNova tactical for about 6 months now. I've put quite a few shells through it, stripped the gun and taken everything apart, and never any problems. $80 was a lot, but IMO it was worth it on a Benelli.
From what I've personally seen with the TacStar, I've seen one actually blow off the end of somebody's shotgun (it was a 870) on the range. And I've seen the TacStar mag extensions thread not match up too well with the Benelli SuperNova. I had this problem and so did my friend, so we returned them and went with Nordic. I didn't look into the Choate because at the time they were over $100.

Ok I am 100% sold on the Nordic extension now after watching this video.
This guy went with the cheaper TacStar extension on his Benelli SNT and it broke and popped off during firing! I am actually glad he posted this video. He talks funny and acts funny but the part where his mag extension fails is still good to learn from.
$79 doesnt seem like so much now if it will last a life time without failing.

Wow, watching that was almost painful. It does say that I want to get the Nordic and not the TacStar. $79 isn't so bad I guess. Somebody get one put on and give us a good report.

i got one, i put it on...haven't had time to get to the range. playing with it though it seems to feed fine. i also like that it doesn't have the nordic logo on the tube...it's just all black. still waiting on my other parts that haven't even shipped yet to post another picture

I've had mine on for the past 6 months. Feeds very smooth and no issues yet. I just put another 100 rounds through it the other day (2 3/4" Wolf rifled slugs) and zero problems at all. Even taking it off to pull the barrell off is very easy. I like the locking mechanism as it's just like the stock Benelli cap, the way it tightens. You can hand tighten it and it's secured, just like the Benelli cap (and that's what you're supposed to do). I left my spring approx 14" past the tube, but getting everything compressed back in takes me seconds since the cap grabs onto the threads right away and doesn't hang up.
Here's a semi-decent close up pic I took about 5 months ago. No, it's not crooked or at an angle, just the crappy camera angle I took the picture at. I'll take some better pictures next week when I pick up my Glock.

I like that shell holder. Simple and rugged. I decided to pass on the Mesa due to stripped thread issues. I'll just keep some on the buttstock like yours.

I passed on the shell holder rail combo and just went with the rail. Now just trying to figure out what optic to mount

Hey Shima, Blaster and Dave, (I wasnt sure if Frank has an extension yet? Sorry Frank) what extension matches up flush with the 18.5 inch SNT barrel? I am ordering one tonight and I just want to be 100% sure I get the right length. It looks like you guys have the +2 extension. Cactustactical shows a chart that says you can go with a +2 or a +3 on the 18.5 inch barrels???
Another thing I noticed is that my Mossberg 930 SPX has an 18.5" barrel but it holds 7+1 while my Benelli will only hold 6+1 if I get a flush mounted extension? Whats up with that? Shouldnt both 18.5" barrels hold the same capacity?
