My new (for me) Commander
I finally got one. I was going to get an NRM but the deal on this ORM was too good to pass up. She's got some rough spots but that's ok as she's a project piece. Just got done last night with fitting the Dlask trigger and Wilson drop-in beaver-tail, (which of course are never completely "drop-in").
Next thing I want to do is sights and refinishing. I've always wanted a colt in Royal Blue so I'm thinking of sending it to Colt, but I'd like some ideas from the rest of you on finishes and who you'd recommend to do them.
Thanks.

Thanks guy's. Any idea's for a finish? Like I said, i'm thinking of Colt's royal blue, but I'm also considering a more modern finish like melonite or something similar, any opinions?

Nice piece which will no doubt be even better when you get it done!

Here's my original Colt Officers ACP Enhanced. Not sure if they call this finish Royal Blue but it certainly is a nice blued finish. It's hard to keep pretty though.

That is a nice blue. I don't know if it's colt's royal blue but the one below most certainly is.

What kind of finish is that? That's the 'bluest" gun I've ever seen. Beautiful finish.

If you are going to use it as a carry gun, either Melonite, NP3 or hard chrome would be great finishes. If it's a carry gun, the finish should be tough because it ain't gonna stay nice in a holster with body moisture.

That's my biggest concern. Finish+sweat does not for a happy pistol make if the finish isn't up to the task. I just wish there was a way to get a really good bluing with the same toughness as a melonite finish.
