Can anyone here help me find a gas block Red Dot sight mount for A 16" Paratrooper (common Jargon) SKS? Also I need one for a 20" SKS. Does anyone know if an AK gas block mount would work? Are They available?
Found one. Samson manufacturing makes an AK-47 1913 rail that fits right in the rear sight block. all ya gotta do is file about 0.010 off the Samson mount for just enuff clearance to clear the stripper clip guide on the bolt carrier. Also need to put 8-32 x 1 1/2 socket head Allen bolt in drill motor and just touch it to your bench grinder to remove same 0.010 off bolt head to clear aforementioned Bolt Carrier. Drill out Rear tangent leaf sight fulcrum pin holes by about 0.020 for 5/32 spirol roll pin and your good to go.
OK here's another one. I noticed my SKS "Paratrooperhad no serial number on the Bolt Carrier in the usual place. SOO I measured the height at the stripper clip guide. Wallah it is 0.030 thinner than my other 20 inch SKS. A Samson Indutries AK 47 Picatinney rail will fit right on this model with none of my earlier posts mods being necessary. Just trying to assist you guys with 20/40 vision or worse.
