I haven't heard about 'smilies' for a long time. I thought they had fixed that problem with the second generation. It was one of the problems I had to fix on my first generation P3AT. I preformed the P3AT 'rampectomony' to fix it. (I also had a similar problem on a Kahr PM40 and fixed it the same way, except the Kahr was breaking magazine followers.) What happens is the feed ramp is too long and it extends into the feed well and nicks the next round to be loaded during the cycling after firing.
It may be observed by field stripping the pistol, reinserting the takedown pin with the barrel hooked over the takedown pin. With the barrel pushed to the rear where it would be during the firing cycle, insert a loaded magazine, and see if it contacts the bullet as it goes past the feed ramp lip.
Trimming the ramp will probably void the warranty and should not be attempted unless you really know what you are doing.
Don't know why your action isn't closing all the way. My second generation was hanging with the bullet nose part way up the feed ramp. The extractor was hanging the cartridge rim. Once I smoothed the bottom edge of the extractor, the problem went away.
ETA Did you look at 'Mucho Info!' in the sticky at the top of this forum? Mighty good info there. All of those links are darn good. Take some time and study them.
