NYSP Glocks?

I've been searching the net to see if any of the old NYSP Glocks (17) made it to market when they switched to .45 GAP? There seems to be some conflicting reports of what happened to these service pistols, some say they were destroyed, traded to Glock, given to NYSDOCS. Does anyone know? I'd really like one as a collector's item.

Thanks

I believe most were traded in to Amchar which is the big Glock distributor in the NE.

Don't Hold Your Breath...

The Glock 17's in question have been given to NYSDOCS. Have we seen any? Only at the CERT level thusfar. Transition is slow in coming. IMHO it was a great idea but not well accepted at certain levels. Thereby it stalled.

NY State has a policy/law/edict wherein they are unable to sell or trade any firearms where they would be resold to the public (thereby giving those guns a chance to take part in a crime). So the firearms need to be sold or traded to another Law Enforcement Agency (instate or out), or Destroyed

The story goes that DOCS bought all the 17s, but refused the offer of the holsters that went with them (for cheap or free). This left us with the guns, but no way to carry them.

keeplokt is right NY state has a law on the books no state agency can release guns for civilian sale. this is why when the AWB hit in the 1990's and glock offered new glocks to NYSP for free in trade for the old 17's and pre ban mags they said no.
