What's up with knife laws?

I'm looking to buy a new folder but I often have to travel to Chicago and they have a two and a half inch blade restriction.

While this is crazy I am looking at a Spyderco Dragonfly so I can stay legal.

It seems like 3" is the limit in a LOT of places while certain local jurisdictions just outright ban pocket knives.

Is this kind of stuff enforced or do they just pull it out as an add on charge when a crime is committed?

I was really blown away by the Idaho state law.

Re: What's up with knife laws?

Dear MJB,

Unfortunately it's true. They will bust you for the knife alone and they will add it on if you are tagged with something else. Best to stay legal in any case.

Best Regards,
