Lets see your work rifle!
So ive got range in a couple of weeks and Im going to qualify with my personal AR since we are not allowed to add optics or lights to our issued ARs. Anyway Im interested in seeing what kind of a setup you guys are running.
Heres mine: Ruger SR-556, Planning on adding an Aimpoint Comp M3, light, and vertical grip.

At least you have the option of carrying your own weapon.

I don't carry any office issued weapons, the Beretta 96D they issued me wouldn't shoot, had a burr on the firing pin or something like that. I had already opted to carry my own personal G22, I loaned my Beretta to another guy whose Beretta had fell apart on the range, that is when we found out it wouldn't fire.
I have trouble trusting things bought on government low bid contracts.

Don't be surprised! Until quite recently, we at my PD were not allowed to use optics or weapon-mounted lights, even though we buy our own firearms. Carbines, overall, were prohibited from 1983 to 2002, and the rumor was that it the feds spanking our command staff for us having NO rifles on the streets, in the aftermath of 09-11-2001, that prompted patrol rifles to finally be authorized again. We are a VERY large agency, in terms of both thousands of personnel, and hundreds of square miles of jurisdiction, with plenty of critical infrastructure. As of 09-11-2011, the only long guns on the street were our shotguns, with buckshot only.
I carried a Colt AR15A2 Govt Carbine, with the thin pencil barrel, from 2002 to 2005-ish. When I could not see the iron sight worth crap anymore, thanks to age-related vision changes, I sold it to a younger colleague. I don't think I ever took any photos of it. I could have started using both an optic (Aimpoint or Eotech) and a weapon-mounted light, finally, last year. I will have to repeat the patrol carbine cert course, however, to start carrying a rifle on the street again. I am on a waiting list for that.
My present patrol long gun is a good ol' parkerized Remington 870P, with a Vang-Comp barrel for tighter buckshot patterns. I can now carry slugs, in addition to 00 or 4 buck. The front bead is far enough out there I can still see it more-or-less OK.

Yeah, that's pretty backwards. Even back in 1991, my issued AR had a light mounted on it. It was called a Sage Light, and was a rechargable flashlight about the size of a three cell Mag Lite that slid into a metal tube that attached to the bayonet lug. It even had a on/off switch you could velcro where ever you wanted it.
It looked like a M203 Grenade launcher it was so big (and lot of crooks, for some reason, thought that was what it was ) (and added about three pounds to the gun). But, it was a bright mother!
And, we had Aimpoints back then, too, but you had to sweet talk the FTU guys into letting you have one because they cost so much back then, they liked having them on the shelves better.
I wish I had a picture of my old AR with the Sage Light on it, but I lost them all in Katrina. A bit of history gone.

No pics right now, but I'm running a run of the mill Bushy 16" Patrolman's Carbine with a Fenix Tk-10 in a Viking Tactics mounts and an EoTech 554. YHM flip up rear sight and Pmags.
I'm selling it this week though to fund my SBR build which will be a Johnson Tactical 11.5 inch barrel on an LMT upper and a Mega lower with Daniel Defense Mk18 rails. Going for light and short for ease of use from in the car and in apartments and whatnot. Basically this is a tag for pics once the paperwork goes through.
Edit: Disregard that. Things change. Will post pics in a few months when the build is done!

No pic immediately at hand of the rifles. Brand new HK416s. Not fielded yet, but we actually have them and will be qualified to carry soon. For now it's still our shotgun w/ (1) Federal Tactical Low-Recoil TruBall 1-oz slugs or (2) Federal Tactical Low-Recoil FliteControl 00-buckshot, both of which I am very okay with.
I don't even bother with the buck, it's slugs all the way baby......
