I've been wanting a new .380 for every day carry and as a backup to my duty weapon. I do not care for the size of the LCP, P3AT, or Diamondback. I need something a bit bigger but still light. I currently toss a Bryco in my pocket (long story, I don't like it either) and it's just a tad too small and way too heavy. I'm interested in the S&W BodyGuard and while I don't like the looks, I'm interested in the Bersa Thunder. Both are around the same price. Anyone have a recommendation?

If you are wanting something a little bigger than the lcp sized guns, why not try for 9mm in something like a kahr or keltec pf9

It's still ultralight and ultrathin, but shoots 9mm instead of .380 acp.

I owned a Bersa Thunder .380 till I got my PM9 and it was a great little pistol. I never had a bit of problem with it. I'd still have it if I didn't get the Pm9 and was made an excellent offer of a 30/30 Marlin and $70 for it. IMO there the best gun in the .380 market dollar for dollar. Mine was a pretty little Satin nickel model.

seems like a sig p238 or a walther ppk/bersa .380 would fit the bill. colt defender if you can find one at a good price.

I guess I should have mentioned price. I'm looking at $400 or less here. I thought about the slim 9, I just don't know how much capacity and size trade off I'd have.

But it costs more than the CM9 9mm.

I believe 9mm ammo is cheaper than .380 by a couple bucks usually.

In that case, the Kel-Tec P-3AT or Ruger LCP. Both the LCP and the P-3AT have a capacity of 6+1.(.380) But, the Kel-Tec PF-9 gives you a capacity of 7+1 (9MM) with just a bit more gun.

I was concerned about Taurus QC. My Slim 9 has been flawless with 115gr. WM's cheapest to Gold Dot +P and various 147gr. rounds. Right front pocket in a DeSantis Nemisis.

I use the bodyguard 380 as my BUG. Like it a lot more than I thought I would....really good gun. 100% reliable. Very comfortable. Only major critique is that the trigger sucks.

If an LCP is too small step up to a small 9. A kahr CM9 is around $400 and could be easily carried in a pocket depending on the pants you wear, or on an ankle or vest holster. Its got a beautiful trigger for being DA, and holds 6+1 of 9mm.

Like others have said, if you want something bigger for carry, go with a 9mm. The one advantage to carrying a 380 is the very small and light pistols chambered for it.

I love classic 380s, such as the Sig P232 or Walther PPK, but not for carry.

There you go. Hadn't thought of that. Could also do the CZ 83, but I don't know what they cost. Or heck, just get a Mak in 9mm Mak. Better than .380, cheaper to shoot and you have Hornady making a factory SD load for it in either XTP or Critical Defense styles.

The market is flooded with options here, Id say LCP if .380 is your pick but LC9 if you want a 9mm

The Bersa is a great little gun. I owned one for a while, but sold it when I bought my G23 and G17. I just didn't see the need for a .380 when I had .40 and 9mm. It was just as dependable as my Glocks, you'd be happy with one.

I know this thread is a bit out - but Kadetklapp, For EDC you should think about the new S&W M&P Shield. It is right within your price range and a good solid gun in 9mm. May be a bit big for a BUG though.
