Memphis Chick-Fil-A
A couple of weeks, or so, ago a local franchisee of Chick-fil-A posted "no guns" signs. One of our local firearms instructors had a conversation (by phone) with the owner, where the owner said that people had reported to corporate that people with guns made them "uncomfortable" in the restaurant. The instructor asked had that ever been a problem in his business, and there apparently had not been any reports relating to his location.
The instructor sent out a notice to the local shooters in the area (IDPA/Steel Challenge/USPSA).
I wrote corporation asking about policies for their franchisees - if they have to follow corporate rules or do they make their own; and specifically addressed people with gun permits, etc.
I received an email from the owner of the restaurant a few days later. The signs are gone and they "would love to keep us as customers".
I'm glad to see an owner listening to reason from his customers.

Yes, that is a good sign that corp is listening to there customers. Also that your instructor followed up and pursued to get those signs thrown out. Good work

When you open carry in Chic-fil-a, people get uncomfortable. When people get uncomfortable, you get ban. Don't get ban from Chic-fil-a.

Chick-Fil-A does not have franchisees. They have "operators" and can fire them. That said, I would think corporate policy would apply not the restaurant manager.

Misinformation really irritates me. Goggle Chick-Fil-A franchises and see what you find. Call them what you will, they do franchise their units.

They don't franchise in the traditional sense. If you are selected to operate one, you don't own it - you can be fired. Don't believe me? Go ahead and get yourself a CFA "franchise" and open it on Sundays and see how well that works out for you.

The email from corporate said that most Chick-fil-A's are independently operated.

Very well stated.
I'll add that when you open carry anywhere, people get uncomfortable. Let a sleeping dog lie...CC when you can.

Pretty much the only thing OC accomplishes, besides making you a target, is making other people uncomfortable.
I'm a lot more comfotable with guns than many GT posters seem to be, but on the very rare occasion I see an OCer in a public place, I try to stay behind him or keep something between us and keep an eye on him. Unusual conduct + a weapon is a warning sign to anyone who has any experience being aware of their surroundings and danger.
Why mention open carry when the OP didn't? because concealed carry didn't scare any Chik-Fil-A customers.

Glad to here you used the power of your wallet to counter the Liberal whinner anti gun crowd! Great job! Never let those Anti-gun POS win those days of compromise are over! Let run them out of town to Cananda or Mexico where they will feel safe and leave freedom to those who appreciate it!

Excellent! I'm very happy to see community activism in support of the US Constitution and state law be successful and hope there will someday soon be a national action web site where visitors can view a list of all retail establishments who try to discourage the exercise of constitutional rights. With a resource like that we could turn out thousands of protesters in front of these weak sister commercial outlets.
Hey, if the neo-Stalinist Left can boycott companies and force them to violate constitutional rights of individuals how can there be any problem with community action networks who seek to support individual constitutional rights?

Good work on everyones part.
Polite, respectful, but firm well reasoned, communication does work on occasion. Worked when my bank posted no guns a few years ago. Signs came down a few weeks later. If they hadn't, accounts would have been closed and moved to friendlier banks.

I have a couple of friends who own Chick-fil-a. Both are pro 2a; however, one's wife didn't 'want' weapons in the building with children in there; so she told the manager (not her husband) to put up the no guns signs. Needless to say, my buddy spoke with 'headquarters' and they are gun friendly. The signs came down.
Moral of the story, question the signs!

You mean someone made a decision (Chik Fil A) that people weren't happy with?
And then they actually reconsidered in favor of customers?
I'm actually shocked and I find it kind of sad.
We live in a society where people, especially businesses, can't seem to ever admit being wrong

Off topic: The Spicy Chicken Deluxe sandwich is ridiculously good. On a side note, I HATE their new pickles, why venture from the classic dill.

Most things at Chik Fil A are ridiculously good. They put a lot of quality into the food - Wendy's used to be like that, many years ago.
