School me on the Browning BDM 9mm

Does this use the same mags a regular Hipower? What are the + and - of these pistols and what is one worth in LN condition with 3 mags?

does not take the same magazines as the Hi Power...I believe (IIRC) that the BDM is Browning Dual Mode and has a switch on it...Fabrique Nationale confuses things by using the Hi Power name on many pistols that have nothing in common with the P-35 other than the name recognition...hopefully someone will step up with some more information for you...

It is the Browning Dual Mode pistol. I have an opportunity to purchase one LNIB, but if I can't buy mags for it, what good is it?

...though I have no first hand knowledge...I did look into getting one until I found how difficult mags were to find...I didn't get a good price on one either...very thin pistol which is nice...

Which seemed to have too much lateral movement in my hand and was the only reason I ddn't like it. The DAO type trigger was a little stout too.

I just recently bought 3 BDM magazines for $63 delivered, made by Mac-Gar for my BDc which some call the officers model. It has shorter grip then BDM with finger extension and was for M&P sales only or FN rep told me. I think it would be a great selling gun today but in 2001 Glock was what everybody and PD wanted. It out shoots my Colt DE for accuracy, probably due to light recoil.

Yeah, that's not a Hi-Power, it's a shoddy replica of a classic firearm. DA/SA triggers are for guys who can't figure out the safety is on when stuff gets serious. I thumb-sweep my glock for the safety. Just habit.

It's loosely based on them. Designed by FN.

Thanks for presuming what I can and can't figure out. I carry a DA/SA and could most likely outshoot any day of the week with it.

And the space shuttle is loosely based on the wright glider, but undoubtedly someone won't get that joke either. It's alright, DA/SA guns are okay, I just don't like em because I shoot IDPA, but that doesn't make them bad. Don't be upset.

I have one & love the feel in my hand and the way it shoots, but it is completely unreliable. Everytime I take it to the range, I almost always have at least 1 FTF or FTE.

Every now and then I keep an eye on Gunbroker to see what they are selling for, very rarely do they sell for over $400.

I got a 15/17 round one for my HP, but haven't fired it yet although it loads, fits and chambers perfect.

The 10 rounder for my BDc wasn't stamped Mec-Gar, or for that matter wasn't stamped with anything, so I suspect a factory second from whoever, but most likely a Mec-Gar. I had function problems even loading and when I tried to chamber a round it jammed. I just pitched it as it would cost almost $5 to return. That's a drawback to the internet, sometimes you save $$$, and sometimes you loose.

Yeah I have the Mec-Gar mags for my Hi-Power, they're mec gar part # MG-BRHP-15. They fit, feed, and function perfectly. I have 4, and they're all good. I would feel confident on their magazines.

Got three 10 round BDM mags from Joe's Pawn and they were new Meg-Gar in the factory package and function perfect. They look kind of funny with the grip extention, but it make's the little grip fit my big hand 100% better.

Since it's just a house gun what do I care as long as the Corbon PowerRoll runs smooth thru the gun. Nothing like your modern 9mm with a 1450fps load producing 450 flb of energy from a 100gr bullet.
