Like new Sig Tac Ops for $800. Deal?
I've been eyeing the Tac Ops series for awhile. Don't care a ton for a railed 1911, but would like to have one at the same time. The local range/gun shop has one in like new condition with four 8 round mags for $800. Everywhere I've looked, they're closing in or just above the 1K mark. Not a great deal, but you'd probably have to find a pretty desperate seller to get one in this condition any cheaper. I figure, worst case scenario, that I could always get my money back out of it. Thoughts/opinions?

I already carry a Glock about 75% of the time anyway.

I'm not a huge fan of the Sig 1911 styling, but it sounds like a decent price if you want a railed 1911.

I've also thought about a Doublestar for a railed 1911.

Agreed - worst case you could almost certainly recoup 100% of your investment into the gun. If you want to try out a Sig/rail gun, I say go for it.

They're series 80 guns as you know. How did the trigger feel?

As for the series 80 thing, I've never been too concerned on whether a gun is a 70 or an 80 and the trigger is really nice. I'd say 3.75-4#'s. This wouldn't be a carry gun, and I doubt I would ever spend the money for a good light, as I already plenty of railed guns (Glock's, M&P's and XD/XDm's) and have never owned a light. I have thought about getting a light, but I won't go the $300+ route. It would be a S&W or Glock light most likely, if I ever did try one.

Get it
You can't go wrong getting a new weapon.
As far as the light goes, hard to imagine with all you've got tied up in sharp 1911s, you can't budget a good light.
On my planet, it's dark half the time. It seems the creatures that dictate we go armed prefer that environment too.

My local gun store sells them for $998. I bought one and love it. Best bang for the buck in my opinion.

So, I would think that a like new with 4 8 round mags should be a decent deal at $800 OTD?

$800 is a good deal IMO. Personally I have a thing for the Springfield MC Operator for a railed gun. I am normally not a railed guy but the MC operator does it for me.

Stay away from sig 1911s two different friends of mind have them, a scorpion carry and a tac ops. The scorpion was a train wreck and the tac ops fails to go into battery more often than not. If your spending that kind of money, get a Remington Enhanced, Springfield Loaded or one of the Rugers and have a better gun

My second choice for a rail gun is the Doublestar. I don't know anyone with a Sig 1911, and don't think I've ever shot a Sig 1911. I've shot plenty of other Sigs and the older ones were DEFINATELY better than the newer one's.

Your friends experiences with their "train wreck" pistols could be distressing for someone considering a purchase. Fortunately, I've had much better experiences with these Sig's(P220, 1911R, P226); they've all performed flawlessly and just as reliably as the G17 and G23.

Sig 1911's are good quality pistols for their price range and you get a lot of gun. You're friend's experience is just that, theirs...

Went by today and got them down to $775. I'm very tempted. Box, papers, (4) 8rd Metalform mags and gun may have had 50 rounds through it. The original owner bought it there when they didn't have the model he wanted. A week or two after he bought the Tac Ops, the model he was wanting came in. He traded it back to the same store.

For the price $800 out the door and 4 total mags, it's a good deal. But like you I'm looking at the RIA 10mm (damn you for your RIA 10mm post)
